Hi All,

I have been reading through the forums about the front speakers in my 94 TS magna. It looked like the best bet was to go with the speakers in the door. Basically all I want to know is if there are mounts already there for them or will I have to modify the door?

most people remove the pockets from the door trims and cut a hole in the door trim in line with the existing hole in the inner skin of the door, u just cut the trim not the door.

There is room in the door itself for the speakers.
Once you take the door trim off you'll see that, but theres a very good chance that you'll have to make up a pod for the speakers, unless you measure the whole then go buy speakers to fit it :P
Also if you don't want to go cutting holes into door trim itself, go track down some door trims from a verada, the bottom half of the trim will screw straght on & has a factory speaker grille as part of the trim, looks a lot better IMO.

The stock ones are probably only around 5kw in power, so anything 50kw + would be a significant upgrade. My bro installed 80kw Kenwoods in his VP just as a replacement to the stock ones. I don't personally think it is necessary to take the doors off and cut holes etc for speakers when a replacement for the 4" stock speakers in the front would more than suffice. For a 3rd gen yeah but unless u intend to spend over $1,000 on ur sound system I don't see much point for a 2nd gen.

It doesn't take much to install speakers in the doors & taking door trims off doesn't take long at all, even if you haven't done it before.
Personally, if you have 4" in the dash & a decent set of 6x9s on the rear shelf (amped of course) you'll find the front end to be fairly average.
Personally having 6" in the doors sound better then 4" in the dash (Nothing wrong with having both either)

You might also find getting 4" speakers that fit into dash nicely a pain in the butt as well, as there isn't much room to work with in there once everything is mounted.

Also I want a stereo system with power ratings in kilowatts ;) lol :D Just stirring mate

Well I took the inside of my door out and took a couple of pics, how do I go about mounting speakers here as I have no idea, doesnt look like they will fit right in because it is square in shape, plus the glass comes right down when I wind the window all the way down, doenst leave much room. Also I have 6x9's in the back, it has no speaker grill in the lining, I just put it back over without cutting any holes for it, will this muffle the sound to much or will it be ok?, I mainly want it like that so its added security of not seeing them.

I doubt anyone would want to nick ur speakers mate. When I first got my headunit I was pretty paranoid about taking it out all the time and securing it but then I realised heaps of people had them and so it wasnt much of an issue leaving it sitting there and havent had any problems since I got it like 2 years ago. Granted if ur headunit is very expensive u could but anything under say $500 I wouldnt bother really, and so I dont think its a big issue if people can see ur speakers for that matter.
