hi guys,
I am having a problem with my TR. When I get to 60 km/h and release my foot of the accelerator to cruise along at 60 km/h, the car surges or hunts violently. I have noticed it is doing it at about 1800 rpm, the car has O/D disabled around town as well. Would love to hear suggestions as to why it might be doing this.

when you say 'hunts' im guessing its a typo for shunts? does it feel like the car is lurching forward?
does it do it once or several times?

it continues to do this until i apply more throttle
Have a read through this thread, both myself and magz experienced something similar. Could be plugs/leads or your dizzy. While for Magz it was while accelerating, I had it both accelerating and crusing speeds at 60. Try it with OD on, and off, take notice of what revs it is, maybe go somewhere thats vacant and try taking off in second and see if it does the same thing.

not sure mate, that is really weird.
if i had to guess id say get your transmission looked at. i dont see how the engine could contribute, especially if its not under load.

Mine had a bit of that when the accelerator cable was sticking. Is yours free or do you have trouble keeping it smooth?

Possible faulty throttle position sensor?
