Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum so i'm sorry if I am asking this in the wrong section.

I just bought a 1997 TF Magna Executive, I adjusted the handbrake because it was coming up too high, and I got it perfect, except when I drive around town I can hear like a squeeling/squeaking noise coming from the back and it was pretty noisy. So I backed it off a little bit and it was still doing it, so I backed it all the way off and now its stopped, but now the handbrake wont work.

Is there anything I can do so when its adjusted it isn't noisy. I have never had this problem with a car before.

Other then that, i'm really happy with the magna and I think its a good change from driving the Commodore :)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Take the rear hubs off, clean it all out and check for problems. Then adjust the handbrake cable as per the manual, ie at the rear wheels, not in the cabin.

This is the link to the workshop manual - download it so you know exactly what to do as it is not the same as the Commodore.

Ok thanks ill give that a go. I always adjust the handbrake from the rear wheels, and if the handbrake lever still comes up too high then I adjust it from the cable but thats not too often.
