Ok I was talking to someone at the big Qld meet with Blake, and they where saying they had templates of dials you could print out and use instead of the white dials from Emtech.
This would be a good idea as I would like blue ones and print them out on some transparent film so the light still shines through.
Anyone got em for the 3rd gen??? Or knows who has em???

I will make them as soon as I can get my hands on a set.
If anyone wants to send me a set, PM me and I'll give you my details, and then I'll send them back.

Exactly how does this work, do you just glue them on top of your existing dials?? how does this react with the illumination of the dials? Can you do thrid Gen ones KB??

Dont glue them, just make little tabs that, when you sit them over the stock dials, you crease over the back of the old ones and they'll sit there in place. When you put the cover back on the dials that'll hold them in place even moreso.
Yes I could do any colour you want. But the best way to do it is for me to make the scans, cut them into layers and then make them publically available on here, so everyone can do them themselves for free ;)

So basically, you need to pull your whole instrument cluster to pieces in order to do this?!? I did'nt know it was possible to do this with a third gen?
(As you can tell I know jack about all this, but find it very interesting nonetheless :P )
What would you require in order to make something up for a third gen KB??

does anyone know if the LEDs are accessible? if they are, can't we just change the White LEDs to Blue ones?

I made some blue ones the trouble I had was the film started to lift and therefore stopped the speedo from going above like 120 that was version 1 should try them again.

the LED's are easy to change once you have it all apart. just be careful taking the needles off or you'll put your speedo out. I found using a fork is the easiest way to get 'em off :)

If anyone can send them to me please let me know.

just change the lights for the 2nd gen
its not that hard to do (all the lights have twist-lock bases) and looks heaps better without having to stuff around with putting new dial faces on...and you don't have to pull the cluster itself apart.
NOTE: 4 bulbs are needed for the blues numbers, to make it brighter you need 2 smaller globes for the adjustable brightness. the pic is with only 2 globes at the back replaced, hence why its a different colour at the edges and is a bit dull. only problem with replacing all globes is that the needle no longer glows so brightly. It can still be seen tho.

I'll get you to email me the scans when you have done them in .psp format so there's no compression and I can get cracking.

This is cool, cant wait, we could also add little tags on them too, like the AWD and Ralliart models do, something like "V6 24V". :D

be careful here, you can get defected for 'home made' dials.

Only if they think they're home made and then pull your dash apart to check them out.
If they're done well it's very very doubtful they'd even think twice about it

yah i need a scan of 3rd gen ones, i been to a few sign shops and have been quoted around $40 for properly printed ones on good paper, i asked for matte finish but many places wont stock matte finish for the simple fact as there is hardly any demand (so if i wanted matte i would have to order $500 roll of the paper for it) but one guy had paper that was a gloss finish but wasnt matte either just a low shine to it, he just said bring in the design in .psd form and he can work with it he just needs the scale to be 1:1, i wanna get silver for mine :)
