driving to pick up a mate today this dick flies past me and another guy, comes to around about, gets half way through and decides to slam his breaks even though there isnt a car in sight. Causing the guy behind him to slam his breaks on and me to run into the back of him. They asshole then speeds off and leaves me and the other guy to sort the mess out..
Of course because I failed to stop the accident is deemed to be my fault, despite the fact this ass caused it.
Luckily theres no damage to the other guys car, but my bonnet is rooted. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to get a new bonnet spray painted?
also seeing as I have to get a new bonnet anyway I was thinking of getting a custom vent put into it. Does anyone know where I would go to to get that done or what kind of cost I would be looking at?

I'm assuming ur car is a TE of TF for some reason so I would try to find a wrecker or check the ads for parts, you may be lucky and find one already in ur required colour. I'm guessing a 2nd hand bonnet would cost you around $150 - $250 depending on how lucky u are.

oops, forgot to mention the model. It's a TJ.
do you think there would be much chance of gettin a tj bonnet from the wreckers?
Shouldn't be any reason as to not. Don't ask for price, because, frankly, I wouldn't know.

Most TJ's that got rear ended or hit on the side for that matter would probably be repaired as so there probably wouldn't be many lurking around at the wreckers but definitely check as life is full of surprises. Granted its quite a bit older than ur magna but I thought I was doomed when I went looking for a white boot lid but I found one within 5 mins of looking in the right colour and all.

That totally sucks. I reckon I would have tossed a business card at the guy who you hit and chased the prick who slammed on his brakes down and taken some sweet candy out of his A$$ (unless it was like a multi coloured VB commodore with a bull terrier hanging out the front window of course hehe) :bowrofl:

the guy was a dick yes, but a hazard u should be prepared for never-the-less :/ all i can say is **** happens, hope it doesnt cost ya 2 much to fix, and if u ever see the nong-***ka again cut him off and slam ur breaks onto so he slams ur rear (of course make sure there are no witnesses) n let him pay outta his own hand :D

Good in theory, but worth making sure that the other guy is insured and not driving a multi coloured VB commodore with a bull terrier hanging out the window lol as I'm sure you really dont want him to cut you a whole new A$$, afterall, he has already shown himself to be rather ignorant. I think it can be assumed he's not a fairs fair kinda guy?
I have a felllow at work who has had his car written off, no doubt about whos fault it was and the guy has just refused to pay. Its now going to court and the whole process has been going 6 months and the felow at work still has'nt seen a cent. When the ruling goes in his favour, there is still no guarantee the guy will get his money, afterall, if the guy who hit him has no money at all, then hes never going to see it unless he gets payment of $30 a week or something forever.
So yeah, before causing an accident in this fashion, worth checking that the guy who slams into your rear end can actually afford to pay out. A new BMW or Mercedes would be a good target for this, however, given my luck, it would probably be stolen :bowrofl:

Yeah I know in theory I should of been prepared.. but who expects a guy to slam him breaks on in the middle of a round about for no reason?
I know the guy to. I used to go to school with him. Might have to go pay a visit to him :nutkick:

Use the philosophy of one of my mates driving instructors ... say you saw a cat on the road ... no1 wants to kill a poor innocent animal :P:P

Sounds like a pretty tough break dude. But as you already know it is you that is technically in the wrong. What if someone had had to perform an emergency stop to avoid running over a child ? As far as the law is concerned you must travell at a safe distance from the vehicle in front! Yeah I know you are P***ed off but thems the breaks. With age I have learnt to drive more defensively and to expect the unexpected. Finally please do not seriously consider taking matters into your own hands. It will certainly backfire and you may put the lives and safety of others at risk. Im sure Karma will catch up with this bloke who has stuffed you around. Good luck with repairing your car.

I think we all just need to stop having accidents in our nice wheels, and that goes for me especially!

hehe, don't worry I wasnt really gonna go around and kick him in the nuts :)
if he had of been stopping to avoid hitting a child I wouldn't be pissed it's the fact he did it just to be a dick that annoys me. but nevermind, thems the breaks.
Anyway, I got a price for the repairs. all I can say is ouch.
new bonnet: $370
paint bonnet and blend guards: $600
good news is the guy said if I supply him with vents he will cut holes in the bonnet and install them where ever I want for no extra charge..
so.. can anyone tell me where I can get some vents from? preferably evo style vents?

Towbars are just nasty, I was rear ended in my 95 TS with one a while back and the charade who rear ended me basically imploded. I had some bumper damage but nothing a new bumper and paint couldn't fix, whereas the newish charade was a complete write off, seriously who would have thought a towbar could be so brutal.
Can anyone say "bye bye radiator" lol

:P if you have full comprehensive insurance it shouldnt matter if he has insurance or not, your company will give ya the money to fix your car, then sue him to get the rest of it back.
