i know that the pajero evolution came with a 3.5L mivec engine.... what i was wanting to know is would it be as simple as getting the 6g74 mivec heads from a pajero??? would more need to be done????
engine swap could be done easily if required to go that far......
would the magna ecu work with mivec or would it need to be reprogrammed???? if so how????

Best bet is for you to have a look at SAVAGE'S TJ AWD, he is doing a mivec convertion

your best bet would be to get the whole engine , the mivec pistons are different also. but goodluck finding one, they are rare. you would be wise to get the ecu also.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mitsubishi-Pajero-3-5L-DOHC-fully-reconditioned-engine-/220865739924?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item336c9fbc94#ht_500wt_1361.... too bad i dont have the cash atm but someone might be interested...... the idea he would take the old motor and drop cost sounds appealing.....
is it a bit pricy but???? or worth it??? i just think this would be a better conversion than a 380 motor... probably have more power....

This is a dohc 3.5l, but not mivec, still a great engine. the dohc mivec 3.5l Mivecs were rated at 206kw, but from what ive found online were closer to 220kw. last pajero evoloution i saw in nz was going for $14,0000, for a 1997 vehicle! they were released to celebrate the dakar rally win i believe.

I can say right now, unless you have +$10000 to throw into your car to get that motor going - don't even bother with it.

You'll have to track down manifolds, water rails, engine mounts, extractors, timing covers and have stuff machined to fit. Then a computer to run it all and a tune. You have labor costs to think about if you can't do the work yourself, and expect the car to be off the road for a while. Parts from a 3000GT or a legnum/VR4 might be compatible - I dunno.

I don't think the magna ecu would be compatible with the ignition system, and the mivec control would have to be done via a third party device. The DOHC heads from what I have been told will bolt onto the magna block and has been successfully timed properly - I don't know if the person started the engine though. The dude who done this will post up if he wants and can fill you in more - up to him.

In the end - it would have been far cheaper for me to drop and evo motor into my car and it probably would have gone faster too.

thanks for the advice was just looking for future.... not planning on doing any mechanical work yet just looking to plan wat i wanna do...... even with the DOHC heads would be a good performance boost....
bang for buck better than turbo or supercharger????? 3.8 SOHC???? 3.8 DOHC????
