I believe these (http://www.superpro.com.au/superpro-parts?id=SPF3078-_%20_K) would be the parts yeah? So glad this thread popped up, I have the same knocking coming through the steering wheel. Now I don't need to stuff around trying to find out what it is!

Yep, them's the ones.
Funny they don't seem to stock rears though.
My front bushes are starting to get a bit noisy again after I replaced them about 40,000k ago.
Bought new front & rear from the dealer a couple of months ago, about $9 each, whacked the rears in myself but the fronts are effing hard to get at without a hoist, so still sitting here in their packets.
Time for a group buy on SuperPro front bushes?????

i'm getting the knocking noises also...if this happens under the warranty period is this a warrantable claim, or is this considered usual wear and tear?

Usual wear & tear.
But if you get on well with the dealer or he's a good bloke you might get them replaced under warranty.
They're only around $5 cost each to the dealer, but about 20 mins labour.

Same here.
More a creaky groan or a groany creak than a knock.
A sharp knock is probably something else, or else they are completely knackered and the knock is metal on metal.

Kinda related issue: I've got the upper arm stopper - where the upper arm assembly knuckle connection joins to the main upper arm assembly rubbing metal on metal...this shouldn't be the case should it? I've never seen it "new" but I imagine the stopper is there to stop any metal on metal rubbing?
I'm taking it into mitsu dealer tomorrow so I'll point it out to them and see what they say. I noticed it when rotating the wheels. It's occurring on both sides on the rear wheels...
I should've taken a photo to upload and see what you guys think but given it's going to dealer tomorrow I'll see what they say...

Just to finish this off (wrt to the upper arm assembly issue i mentioned) - the creaking noise was the bushings for the front sway bar - they replaced the bushings free of charge (happy).
They reckon the issue with the knuckle joining the upper arm assembly at the back is normal - they say when the car is jacked up and the suspension extended that it'll push the front wheel down and slightly forwad, causing the knuckle to be at an angle and hence looking like it's rubbing metal on metal. Not sure if anyone else notices this?

Mine is pretty much the same. Over speed bumps, potholes, manholes... So pretty much everywhere on SA roads :P
Just as a heads up everyone....these bushes are starting to become rare...I checked both 380 part numbers, SPF3078-23K, and Magna/Verada SPF1801-23K, and neither Bursons or SuperCheap have them in stock (I checked their warehouses)...note came back from the manufacturer that they need to be made up...and there is a 3-4 week wait. :(
Has anyone been able to source the above parts off the shelf anywhere in the last couple of days?
Time for a group buy on SuperPro front bushes?????
Might need to, so that they put in just one/two production work orders to do the lot.

Just picked up a set of these today - $36 for the pair. Took my local Supercheap 2 days to order them in, so not bad at all! Just need to get them installed. Not sure if I'll try DIY or get a workshop to do it. I know it would be a hell of a lot easier with a hoist.
I did mine (wifes KF) last weekend...supercheap charged me $20 for the pair :) (Magna woot) I placed my order in ages ago, but because they took so long to deliver they reduced the price. Lucky me. But the job was easy enough to do. I followed Grelise's DIY.
EDIT: I used a couple of jack stands to hold the car up, whilst I used the trolly jack to lift up the control arms to relieve the tension of the sway bar. It may not be easier on the hoist, because you still need to put pressure on the control arms. Depends.

Personally any bushes that Mits made out of rubber get replaced with rubber
These pastic rubbish ones only end up wearing fast especially when the lube washes out of them, the squeake and are just not what was made to be used. If they were good car makers would use them as they are cheaper to make than the rubber ones
And for around $10 each, are cheaper than the superpro ones

Just noticed the same noises in the front end of my 380, I'm replacing the springs and shocks shortly so may check these out.
Have people found this fixes the annoying knock?

Just a quick question, are you up grading the shocks and replacing the springs with lowered springs or just replacing the stock shocks and springs with the same. I plan to replace the shocks and springs also. I am wondering what shocks your planning to use.

I was hoping to use the boge shocks from Mal but his supplier is giving him the run around so there anavailable atm. You can use the Koni shocks which are full adjustable but cost alot more aswel.

Yeah thanks. I have the same info from a couple of suppliers, Boges make fronts but don't have the rears yet, KONI do have them but not available off the shelf, thus an expensive exercise. KYB do have EXCEL G's AT $150 each for fronts and $130 each for rears, I think they are an upgrade on the KYB's on the 380 at the moment.

The KYB are basically VRX/SX/GT shocks + 5% which was from the mouth of KYB themselves so not worth it unless you shocks are stuffed or you have an ES. I went through all this before I ended up getting the coilovers custom made.

LOL well you covered me then, I have an ES ex gov car so the shocks are also stuffed. Any other brand that have something better?

lol sorry bout that ..... unless you do some spirited driving I'd just get the KYB replacements. The VRX/SX/GT shocks are firmer than the ES.
If you want to push a bit harder they say Koni's are available but I'm yet to see these & weren't available when I was looking. I did look into getting the stock shocks revalved which wasn't that expensive but ended up going all out for the custom K-Sport Coilovers.

What difference in price between the coilovers and the Konis I wonder
firie

The Ksport coilovers retail for $1750 or $1600 in a group buy from sponsor Megatron in these forums. From memory the the Koni shocks retail for around $700 a set front only and a little cheaper per set for the rears.

My info is the other way around - you can get Boges rear shocks for a 380 but the fronts are still 'in testing'.
Maybe Mal can clear this up?
I've considered upgrading my base model shocks to KYBs, but I decided about 18 months ago to wait for the Boges instead.
Still waiting!

For my money I would rather have the coilovers for the little bit extra. At least you can re build the damper. I am not sure what the damper in them would be like in comparison. I wonder what the softest setting is like (queue Fooz or someone else with them in) in comparison with the standard.

Anyone know what size the bar is on the es 380? I just called Bursons and they said they have 2 different sizes under the SPF3078-_ _K code.
