Hi guys,
well I ended up buying that TJ from the auctions that I mentioned in one of my other threads in 'tech torque'. Got it for $900 (1100) by the time I got it home. The sump had been damaged, all the oil had leaked out of it and the previous owners obviously ran it dry as the engine is ticky. Doesn't matter cause as I mention earlier I have a spare engine from my wreck TL.

Anyway back to the topic, it came with halogen verada headlights and the previous owner had wired them up quite unprofessionally. They disconnected the middle lights and just ran the outside ones. The lights also had to be on highbeam to switch on (to lowbeam) which meant they had no highbeam. I have looked at the connectors and it looks like Veradas had H7 globes (single filament) with only 2 pins for the connections, however, it looks like a standard TJ has the 3 pins for a H4 dual filament globe. I am really confused as how to wire the halogen lights as I need them properly wired for roadworthy. Could someone please help me with this? Thanks

Dude, do a search. There are MANY threads covering this, plus one DIY on how to do it

I looked at the headlight FAQ and for one found out what lights they are. They are the stanley H7 parabolic ones which apparently are all looks and create sh*t light. I went through the TE-TJ workshop manual I have. There is a common wire for the high/low beam and its the solid red one. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I got them working guys. I found the wire that gave the outer lights power on high and low beam. I then wired the other connector on the plug to an earth on the car so its all sorted. i just have one more question about it. I know the stock TJ lights have the H4 dual filament bulbs which are 55/60W whereas the outers on the stanley lights are just 55W. On high beam I have the inner lights and outer lights working whereas for low beam I just have the outers. As I will be taking it for a roadworthy, do you guys think that they will pass the inspection with the way they are?

That is how they work the low beam is always on it is on the inner high beam bulb that switches on and off for high beam

I don't think it would pass a roadworthy with wires wedged into the connector and on the bulb, if you can rewire it for the connector to go on I think you would be ok, just hide all the chopped wires

I did hide the wires in the connector. But no I didn't chop any wires though. I Chopped the wires from my wreck TL and hid them in the connector. I dont think theres an issue with the wiring, but I'm just worried about the road-worthiness of the parabolic stanley lights as i don't think they are as bright as stock. But if they sell them, you would think they would be ok to use on the roads wouldn't you?
