i have a tf magna sports with the 4 speed triptronic auto which im selling but the auto is only working in limp mode so i want to see if i can sort it out. error on the snapon scanner is 31 - (lr sol open) which seems to mean - Auto Transmission Low/Reverse Solenoid, Solenoid Shorted or Disconnected. any idea if this is an easy fix?

Have you tried resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery?....this can work wonders sometimes.

yes i tried but no difference so i scanned the car and it had this fault code. i had a similar prob on a mates cressida a few years ago and we just removed the auto sump tray and installed some solenoids we got from the wreckers. took about an hour . just wondering if i remove the auto sump tray on the TF , are the solenoids are easily accessible ?

Never done it myself on a FWD but I'm sure it's possible - download the free workshop manual at the link below as it covers this. I'd also remove and clean every plug that goes to the transmission.
