Hey guys, just wondering how much i should be expecting to pay for the piping from the cat to the muffler, at 2.5"? Not including the actual muffler (already bought). 1998 TF.

Cheers,
Cam.

cam mate, is the stock piping stuffed? if it isnt then dont replace the whole lot. go to AAA exhausts, ask for Gordan. all you need to replace is the piping which goes over the rear axle. u should beable to get this done for about 80 bucks. we just did lizas wagon and it goes a treat now. anyway mate dont waste the money if u dont have to.

cheers

Shaun (UNDR8D), the piping is in ace condition, i just figured i might as well go 2.5", if it isn't too expensive. I am heading to AAA in the morning to see what they say.
I already got one quote at $500 and another at $300. Around $300 is what i was expecting, hoping for cheaper though :D

Shaunv8 & Meh, is that fitted? How are you gettin it so cheap? Supplying your own parts or what?

Cheers,
Cam.

Are those extractors made out of paper?

Cause i got a quote several quotes for custom extractors ranging from 1100 - 1800...

The cheaper the quote, the cheaper the parts they will use.. Remember.. Cheap is not always good!

the more the quote the more they are ripping you off. YOU tell them the grade and thickness of the metal u want. its not a specialy job

uhuh, cause we are all metal/grade experts :doubt:

Price comes down to what type of mandrel machine they have, the types of metal they use, how hard the metal is to work with and the quality of the finish.

Your theory of the more the quote the more they are ripping you off is a bunch of bull.

okay ring 10 places and ask for 1inch mandrel 304 grade 1.9mm thick 3x2,2,1 extractors and who ever quotes you the most is ripping you off the most, the cheapest is being nice. same product different price. thats what i ment. they can hardly quote you unless you know exactly what u want, or they can but you dont know what ur getting

While i agree with some of what youre saying, you havent taken into account quality of workmanship (welds, bends, fitting,) customer service, warranty etc etc That alone will up the price.

cam, its your choice mate, but i think its a waste of money :doubt:

anyway make sure u specify for a mandrel bend system as well cos depending on where u go they might quote u on a press bend system and not even tell u. AAA do all the mandrel bending and stuff for other exhaust place like exhaust technologies, they do a good job and at a good price.

cheers mate

Pacemaker Extractors (PH 9370) + Lukey Super Cat Converter + Lukey AL4-5597 (2.5" Rear Sports Section including muffler for Magna's)

...should do the trick nicely :D

went to AAA and he priced it at approx. $120 including fitting of the muffler. He said he would have to take a look at the muffler, which may change the price depending on where the inlet for the muffler is (offset or centre).

I figured i'd go bigger because i'm in on the Pacemaker group buy, so the less restriction the better huh? ;)

Cheers,
Cam.

bigger isn't always better, 2.5" should be fine though.
