I've got 6 X 9s on spacers in the back of my TS wagon, I didn't bother to try the top install. Sounds reasonable, improvement on just having dash speakers. The original top speakers are very shallow IIRC, good luck trying to match them.

I got 6.5's in the spots where the old ones came out of. No modification needed, just the screws went in on a bit of an angle but they were fairly shallow pioneer things. I didn't notice that much of a difference in sound, only when sitting in the back seats. The 4's in the dash get loud enough to drown out the rears when in the front seat. Maybe it's more beneficial to place some decent splits in the doors and chase a nice front stage.
