So looks like i need another box took it back to the auto guys who did the flush and left it with for the day came back saying needs replacing surprise. From my summation he said it seems to be starved of oil and the filter maybe clogged as not be cleaned for I don't know how long maybe never. Rang the breakers round town one box 550 with 155000 on clock said oils dirty so could just have same problem again. Other choice 700 for 212000 km one as have to get shipped from geelong but guy says it looks reconditioned so might be better bet. what you guys think or does anyone else have a box i could buy off them. Other options a Manuel conversion putting five speeded in although don't know how hard how much and who could do it. Still wanna do my mods to it after replacement of tranny should I just sell it with new box in and buy vrx ralliart .sorry for rambling just wanna get few ideas before I proceed.
well, a manual conversion should set you back $1200-1500, as for another tranny, or for that fact a manual conversion, pm madmagna since your already in victoria, he should be able to set you straight for either all. he owns mitsfix.

Again with the manual conversion! What is it with everyone and manuals?
Seriously though, a manual conversion is cheaper that a full rebuild of an auto, but there are loads of guys here with boxes that came out of their magnas. Try asking around here, and definately call Mal as well.

It's either $1600 to recon your box,
Or about $1600 for manual with a new clutch
i only wish it was $1600 to reco my box where i am, i was qouted $5k, which i returned with a laugh, and a re-adjustment of my pace maker. i honestly dont know why in north QLD prices just go up and up, but then i live in mackay, nothing more said there lol. so in my case, it was definately cheaper to go manual
In SE Qld away from Brisbane you are looking at $3 to 4000 fitted.

Failure rate is much lower, fuel Eco is better, and power is on tap. Was enough to sell me :)

Thanks for advice guys but by some miracle after not driving for a week then driving yesterday round town then two and back from work, the box seems fine actually shifting more smoothly and not thumping or slipping out of gear.
I'll keep driving for while and see if problem pops it head up again otherwise i'm wrapped i dont have to fork out for another box gonna use money on exhaust and springs.
Maybe there was just a blockage and cleared itself maybe explains why smoother shifting.
Anyway heres hoping its permanant.
Cheers
