View Full Version : blue smoke from exhaust question
so the magna i picked up this morning is blowing blueish smoke out of the exhaust, now a quick look online tells me that could be piston rings and untill i have the money to replace them ( or the engine) someone told me that using thicker oil and a stop smoke product could help me get past the blue slip
any ideas on this and can this do any serious harm to the car over a short time of mainly highway runs to see the kids untill i can afford to replace the engine
Did you not check the engine before buying it?
If its been sitting somewhere for a long time, the valve stem seals can harden and allow oil to burn. Has it been stationary for a while?
i did have a geese over it but the little bit of smoke i saw this morning i put down to the fact it has been sitting for a few months getting a start every now and then and the car being cold in the moring, i guess that awnsers your question about it sitting to lol

My KH Verada, was the same with 203,000k's on it, I put Nulon oil for old warn motors which is 40/70 and it blows no smoke, now and I can do about 2000k's before I have to top up the oil
