As above, I was wondering whether it is possible to separate the grey plastic section from the red plastic lens on TJ tail lights?
Can you stick it in the oven like headlights?

Thanks

Hey mate, you can either use a heat gun or an oven.

Heatgun ive used, but if you dont have one with adjustable heat you can eaisily over heat the plastic and burn it. I basically heatted one section, pryed it away, lightly heated the rest and the tailights popped open

Oven, i believe i did it for 5 mins at a pre heated oven at 120c, BUT CHECK CONSTANTLY FOR OVER HEATING. I got a phoncall i had to take and melted the tailights.

Sweet same as headlights.
There is a small strip of sealing tape which goes between lens and rear quater panel around the outside of the car, will it melt?

I dont mind them not being the same. I may even rep having different tail lights for fun :)

I took it off on one but not the other. I did the oven with a set of Galant tailights so im not sure about the rubber. I pealed it off on one time with the heatgun, but not the other. All you would need to do is glue it back on with some super glue!

I used a silicone liquid nails and filled in any small gaps that arose. Have a look at my forsale thread for the way they turned out.

I had it at 100 degrees for about 5 mins the glue was still hard but it let go without cracking so that is promising. and the strip didnt melt :)
