Aight. My new install is just about due, as I recieved my tax cheque today :bowrofl: Anyways, I've reached the crossroads when it comes to choosing an amp. To cut out all the crap that I'm not really wanting to type, I want to know how good the alternator in the TH Magna Sports is, ie. how fast/or what rate does it charge the battery at.

I've been told that Class A/B amps suck a pant-load of charge from the battery and that Class D amps are more efficient at utilising power from the battery. I was also looking into a Optima Dry Cell unit as well as an alternative. I'm really just trying to avoid flat batteries and stoopid dimming headlights.

Anyways, if anyone can give me the alternator info, that would be good.

It's hard to answer this question without writing a thesis on it.

Amplifier class is more to do about internal efficiency and switching methods than drain on the alternator. The class D is more efficient (about 20% heat) than A/B (about 40% heat) and A/B is more efficient than A.

Remember though that any system needs to be carefully planned too. This includes the charging system. The alternator and battery are the two main factors but other things like earthing kits are also a good idea too.

You might want to read up a little on power, charging systems and amplifies classes here (http://www.fastfoursforumscarclub.com/temp/fhrxstudios/faq.asp) and here (http://www.bcae1.com/). :D
