View Full Version : air noise when pushing brake pedal down

so the car was blue slipped yesterday and passed fine but driving it down to the rta this morning i noticed that when braking a air kinda noise was coming from the brake pedal when i pushed it down

any ideas? it wasnt doing it before this morning

That's the brake booster in action. Normal behaviour.

It shouldn't make a whooshing/air noise - usually when this happen it's the booster that is failing - first check that the vacuum hose to the booster has not been dislodged - check both ends. If nothing there, I would get it checked further.

if in doubt mate, being your brakes and how much you obviously need them, drop past a braking place or your local mechanic and ask them if it's all good. You really wanna jump on something like this before it gets any worse

Well, it's your life and maybe someone else's so I always figure go safe. Go to the link I've included below and see what it says about a hissing noise. I still bet the booster is bad and should be attended to.

took it back to the mechanic who done the roadworthy and he said it was all good, prolly just i wasnt used to the newer car and the way they sounded /felt

oh wells lol
