i just tinted my rear tail lights and i am very happy with the finish in regards to the colour and especially the colour matches very closely to the burgundy of my car.....
i used 3 very light coats of nightshade and then 3 coats of a satin clear enamel..... once i give the surface a buff and clear up imperfections and smooth the surface should look fantastic

however i have noticed especially when the light lights up there is some orange peel appearence to the area around the lights especially the reverse and indicator.... i assume this is because my coats of nightshade were too light..... what i am wanting to know is how can i fix this????? buffing it will only fix the clear coat and not the underlying issue of the orange peel in the nightshade.... if i could fix his they would look a million dollars.....

can anyone help??????

Should have wet sanded the nightshade before applying the clear getting rid of the orange peel, then cleared over the top. Only way to fix it is to remove the clear.

what would be the best way to do that now???? sand it with a coarser paper first to remove the clear then use a fine wet sand paper???? if so what grit????

also if i wet sand the finish down can i just start the repainting process over the the scratched surface???? will the scratches be filled by the new coat of night shade and coats of clear or will i need to buff the surface smooth????

Get some thinners, a heap of rags and start rubbing!

You are kidding right? Yeah sure do that if you want to melt the plastic and have the plastic from the lens smear. Just sand it back with 2000 to 1200 with water until its back to the shades

I would use some mineral terps to get rid of the night shade
Wont fog or melt the plastic while applying it

Sell 'em on ebay and get some new ones from the wreckers.

Definetly not coarse as said above around 1200 grit wetndry will be good, will remove the clear with a smooth finish, wont scratch the nightshade.

sanded it all back (well almost all... was still patchy)....
putt new night shde over the top... happier with the finish bus still not 100% happy.....
i will get it done properly with a 2pac clear coat with some black mixed in at some point down the track.....
