Ok so I have recently had a strange squealing noise when i turn the wheel past a full turn like how you would turn to get into a driveway or parking spot. It only happened like within the last three days. steering isn't hard at all. and there doesnt seem to be any other problem except my car has also started stalling as i slow down to stop at lights or whatever, on the same night it started. Any one have a clue as to how it may have happened or what might be going on? Ill try get a video of what is happening if i can tommorrow.

Cheers.

check the power steering oil. and the belt tension. if the fuild is low top it up and turn the wheel lock to lock and recheck the fuild level

as above sounds like belt slipping not sure why would make car stall

OP. Never lock steering wheel at full turn. Always ease off a little. Bad for the pump. As for stalling, what was it reving at? Below 600rpm? Could be totally unrelated issues.

Probably a combination of low fluid, old belt or belt not tight enough, and an ISC not working. Engine revs should go up about 200 rpm as you crank the wheel from lock to lock while stationary.

Not a nice feeling stalling the motor at low speed while at full lock as you suddenly have no power steering and no brake assist.

Ok i checked the oil. It is just over the max line, it is clear like no grit or anything in the oil reservoir. The belt seems to be tight, maybe has a little bit of slack but not too much more then say the water pump belt which we just replaced. I guess only a video of all the components would really show you what i mean. altho its kinda hard with only one person to record and turn the wheel.

I dont really lock the wheel fully in when i drive but I lost my licence so i havent really been driving it to much, i guess thats why you dont loan your car to friends who drive like maniacs and lose there licence also...... hmm

You mean "ex-friend" surely?

lol lol lol

Try tightening the belt slightly, also check it doesn't have oil/grease on it. If it is glazed (very shiny) there is a belt dressing spray you can get to stop the squeal. Happens a lot to cars that don't get driven much.
