View Full Version : Engine missing slightly

So I filled up my '00 KH with 98RON fuel because standard 91RON was out of service. Now my car idles like shit and its shuddering slightly at traffic lights. Feels like its misssing, or something...

Should this go away when I fill up again with regular? Also, I've never used E10, but will it stuff my car up?

Thanks, appreciate any suggestions/ideas!

Different RON fuels wont make an ounce of difference to your engines health. I suspect it is a dodgy batch of fuel

This might not be the problem but it was for me, I had the same thing happen to my TF in the end I had a bad conection on the positive terminal on the battery. I tightened it up and the car has not had the prob since I hope this helps.

Don't know what the current state of play in NSW is, but I understand in QLD all 91 is now E10 with no E10 marking being required. I recall reading that NSW, at least under the previous government, was going down the same path. If you had been buying regular which was actually E10, the change to PULP would show up as your fuel trims would be out and the car running rich until the ECU catches up.

If you let the car idle for 10 (hot) to 15 (cold) minutes, the ECU will adjust the idle fuel trims for the current fuel - same as after an ECU reset.

"I understand in QLD all 91 is now E10 with no E10 marking being required"

Is that at all stations, as I'd been lead to believe that BP in particular had gone with E10 as their only 91 (& without obvious E10 marking)?

If the Qld gov't backed down on the plan that would be a relief.
