Ok people after looking at a few VRX's and being so close to buying one things have changed. I have decided to buy a house as well as a car.
Thus means I must lower my stakes, so I thought i'd get a verada instead.
I have talked this guy down and I just purchased a $39 flight from melb to sydney just in case I decide to buy it.

The car is a

1997 October build Verada XI with Leather, sunroof, 17 inch wheels, lowered, 98000 k's, 12 months rego and immaculate (it looks great in the pictures) car is forest green.

So what you guys think.
$12000 Should I buy or hunt around at the auctions for something alse.

ive heard a few rumours that veradas can get ultra ****ty on fuel when they arent looked after properly (i mean worse than standard mag 3.5s)

Verada's around that age are getting cheap, dirt cheap but for 12K for that low kms for its age is pretty good. As long as the body and interior are perfect id definatly snap it up.

Wise man with the house purchase, you can allways use some equity you build up to finance a VRX later lol

mmm same engine, same transmission....????

All cars will use more fuel and will be more expensive to run if not looked after.

"98000 k's" save a K for your service - the 100K is an expensive one remember. Seems a lot of magnas and veradas hit the market in Sydney at 99,000 - !

I reckon it is a good buy, just make sure all the leather and woodgrain is in good condition.
For 12K i dont reckon you could go wrong with a Verada XI. I own a verada which is a 1999 model, and have no problems at all.

get him to knock off at least 500 - 700 for the timing belt change (100k) service.

If you do purchase it are you going to drive it back to melbourne from Sydney? cos if so, you have just clocked up least 800kms towards the 100k service mark so try and negotiate it with the seller.

Also does it come with RWC? and you also need to re register it in victoria.

Good Luck and let us know what you decide.

Cheers
John

It's the green one. The white one has 200000 on the clock. Isn't the major serveice 95000 kays and not 100000?

Verada chews more fuel as it's a heavier car.

I saw the same model car (verada XI), same year (97) with slightly more kms (120) sell for $7400 at an auction a few months ago. I think this deal was probably one of the best I have ever seen but I think it is definitely worth at least $12,000. First I would try and sort something out with the 100km service. If you can get him to pay for the service and then pay $12,000 for the car itself you're done exceptionally well.

The timing belt should be done at the 90000km mark. and the plugs done at the 105000km mark.

If you guys are paying over $500 for a timing belt YOUR PAYING TOO MUCH!!! It should only set you back abour $450 -$500.

I think the big one is 105,000 where the 3 platignum plugs need swapping  I am too lazy to go out to my ride and check the handbook  !!!

The timing Belt is 100,000k's and the plugs, even though the plugs should be done by
