hey guys,

so the front pads need changing on my TJ VRX

I've got some pads and fitted them with those metal sheets that go between the pad and caliper? what do these actually do? as now they seem to be grinding on the passenger side only (even after i pushed the piston back) does this mean i need to machine my rotors?

can i remove those sheets of metal to give me more clearance? the pads used are just bendix ultimate.

cheers

The metal sheets have the wear indicators on them but if they are fitted correctly they are well away from the rotor...also new pads will need some time to bed into the shape of the disc.... you need to have another look see....

sorted it out, are those metal sheets ok to be left off? can they be not used at all?

brakes work perfect now so im happy.

When I did mine I left those metal shims off. Mainly because they fell out when removing the old pads and I couldn't figure out where they went.

20,000km later and no problems.
