Hi, I'm new to this forum.
I just bought Mitsubishi Magna 1996 2.4litre. with 194K on the clock.
the car had a receipt that said "changed drive belt".
I just wonder, is drive belt is the same with timing belt? coz if not, it might be due for timing belt change.
and How much approximately it will cost to change the timing belt?
cheers

Welcome!

You can answer this yourself, by looking at the amount on the receipt.

If it is $40 or so, it is one of the outer drive belts that was changed - aircon, alternator, power steering.
If it is in excess of say $400, then it was (were?) the cam belt(s).

2.4L engine has a cam belt. Some have another belt running a counter balance shaft.

Well he posted in the TR-TS section where he got a TE with a four banger :P So yeah mis-read the op. So I assumed it was a 4G54 :P

i think mine is TE, but some how my post was moved to this section... :D
the receipt said $60, so it's not the timing belt then... ouch.. i thought it was the timing belt when i bought it.
what's is the sign if the timing belt need to be changed? other than from the kms?

There is basically no sign. That's the worst part. They get worn down and under the pressure they just snap causing (usually) a destroyed engine....
