finally started the 380 engine today however the car wont idle, the car is revving up and down a few times and stalls, and the rev counters going from 1000-8000rpm but the engine is prob revving between 500-2500rpm which leads me to believe theres a dodgy rpm signal coming from distributor? i can keep it idling by pumping the throttle but it wont rev. disconnecting afm did not improve the situation. was thinking the bigger injectors?? but im sure a few people have said they are running 380 injectors with stock magna computer, also i did not have lower y pipe or oxy sensor fitted if this may have had any impact
tj magna manual
stock ecu
380 engine with 380 injecters and upper plenum
lower exhaust y pipe not fitted
im sure i will sort it out tomorrow, but thought i would ask if anyone had similar issues

Did you change out the 380 crank position sensor plate with the magna one?
Car will run like a **** when the exhaust isn't fitted properly - no oxy sensor, no closed loop control. Had that problem when I first started the car with the mivec heads.

Magna on the left, 380 on the right. Using the 380 sensor plate with the magna ecu will arse rape it.

You'll have to pull a **** load of shit off to get to it.. Was the motor set up for the car or did you just buy the motor and drop it in?

Who did the set up, you also state lower Y peice not installed, does this mean you ran straight out of the manifolds
Also, the injectors are not larger, they flow exactly the same amount, just out of more holes
You dont have any issue with the motor itself, I have done many the way you state, you have an issue with either hte install or with a part you have bolted on. If you did the converison there is no way known you could not be sure of which lower pulley and which CAS you used, these require the timing belt assy to be completely removed to gain access.

Anything new on this??

yes that was the issue. as soon as savage3 suggested it i realised that we had not swapped it. my mechanic had it worked out before i turned up the next morning, and had swapped it over. when test starting, we where just running it with the headers fitted. no exhaust y piece as i had some oil in the cylinders oil while it had been sitting and didn't want it it all going into the cat. once it blew all the oil out of the cylinders we fitted the y piece.
car runs perfect now and been driving it for the last week or so. only issues now is waiting for a pod adapter that suits a 4.5" flange pod as its running out of puff at high revs with the 3" flange pod adapter as that covers 1/2 the afm. cant run the std airbox due to the 6g75 manifold angle.
im pretty happy with the conversion. i think we could do it twice as fast next time and i would keep the 6g74 intake manifold if i did it again as using the 6g75 manifold added hassle and extra cost for unknown benefit (needed new accel cable made $110, need to run pod and adapter + silicone joiner $150, Had to cut and weld shut the exhaust recycle pipe. and now strut brace wont fit. I will try to mod it today to fit

tt racing in slacks creek. they use to do alot of rb/sr/1uzfe conversions but not much of that around now

Hey mate, can you post up the dimensions of the accelerator cable that you got made up? I'm planning to put on a 6g75 intake manifold with my 6G75.
Seen your posts on boostcruising, looks decent dude. You are looking at maybe 170kW with the 6G75 intake manifold after a tune. You're probably making a touch over 160kW (depending on the dyno) on a ralliart tune.

$2900 in total for the engine / timing belt kit, oils, plugs. exhaust spacers etc / removal of old engine and install of new engine
would have been about $250 cheaper if i had used 6g74 upper manifold

Did you end up with a f-off exaust leak with the spacers? I ended up getting 25mm of pipe welded in instead of spacers

the spacers are just a flange with flange gaskets on each side so they match exactly. cant see why it would leak. cost $20 for the 2 flanges and 4 flange gaskets
