Hey guys,

Im just in the last stages of my boot install and im trying to get some material for my amp inclosure. I have the amp sitting on the bottom of my fulse floor and i want to use the mirrors to send light over the amp and into the boot.
If i use glass it will shatter and i will give my self a hard time trying to fabricate with stainless steel. So where can i buy plastic that has a mirrored finish on one side and for what cost? As this will make my life alot easier. I have tryed miter 10 and they could not help me.

I have idea of what i want from all of this but what would be the best choice of light source to use? I want the light to be really bright but the source can only take up a small space of about 30cm in length and the light source must not be visible. I was thinking of using 2 halogon bulbs side by side and using a coloured filter to make a bright coloured light.

Does anyone have any good ideas that i might be able to use? :D

As far as the mirrored plsatic goes, Im pretty sure jaycar sells some. I was just down there and next to some black felt I was looking at there were some tubes with the words 'mirrored plastic' or 'mirrored mat' or something along those lines, Im pretty sure that it would be what your after.

Your average plastic/perspex suppliers or shopfitters should have it - the 3mm mirrored acrylic is pretty easy to use but be warned - do NOT use metho or solvents to clean - you get micro-cracks in the surface - very annoying!

I used some of this stuff when I did my HID headlight retrofit - great stuff - glues well with silastic.

As for your light source - the answer is easy - CCFL's - cold cathode fluros... The bare tube + inverter from jaycar is FAR brighter than the enclosed ones.
