Unsure what section to post this in. Mods feel free to move if need be.

The time has come to sell my car. A friend is pretty keen on it but I'm not sure what it's worth.

2003 KJ Verada GTVi
180k
New rubber all round and major service completed.
Boge Shocks and King Lows.
Alpine stereo with high end head unit and Type-X splits. Sound deadened doors and boot.

That's about it. Does $6000 seem fair? I don't want to rip a mate or myself off.

Any advice guys?

$6000 sounds like a fair price all round to me provided it's in good condition.

..GONE..

Unfortunately.. They're not worth alot..

$6000 - 7000 is about right - The Ks are the downside to this one.

As long as the car is clean, no dings, no issues, roadworthy etc.

I dont see why thats not a fair price..

$5000 if selling to a friend.

I'd agree with the $6000 figure you suggest, especially as it's a Verada GTVi and has just had major service. Only downside is that you should NEVER sell a car to a friend or a relative.

You can ask 6K but the way I see the Magna/Verada market going it seems you will gradually have to lower the price until it sells

If you going to sell to a friend its best to err in his favour....after all how important is the friendship relative to the car? Especially if its like you best mate...but I agree, up to 5-6K is reasonable.

If it was straight as an arrow and low km, I would pay 10k. Your km as long it's pretty good condition I would pay up to 8k.

He's in WA remember, Like Australia, But not. They just speak the same language, but its just so Isolated.
I'd imagine a good secondhand car would be not as easy to find over there.

I paid $10k for mine, 6 months ago with 92km's and mint condition 02 VR-X.

Just had new rims and tyres worth $2k and Major was done.

Like I said, Km's are worth the extra $2 - $3k in my book.

Didn't you have some big-arse rims on there when I bought your old 16's? Depending on how big they are/condition, that could be a fair chunk to take into consideration.
That said, 180K is getting on the high side, but from what I remember of your car $5.5K should be decent for all concerned.

There is only ONE valid answer to the OP's question...

As much as someone is willing to pay!

That may be a valid answer to the thread title, but not what the OP is actually asking. The original question is, "Does $6000 seem fair?"

Of course it does. It can be applied to any question about a sale...

"Does $6000 seem fair?"

Answer: If someone is willing to pay that much, then yes - to them it is fair.

Semantics.

Question: "Does $6000 seem fair?"

Answer: "As much as someone is willing to pay."

FYI - You don't understand the meaning of the word "semantics".

And if you're trying prove your invalid point by only quoting me verbatim, then you simply don't understand my point.

My point, just so you can be clear, is that any sale price is a good one, is fair, is reasonable, is right, is not too high, is not too low, is justified, if someone is willing to pay the sale price.

Oh dear. I'm well aware of what you MEANT to say, but of course, it's not what you said. You said;

There is only ONE valid answer to the OP's question...

This is where semantics come into play, being the meaning involved. If you had said what you meant, being, "If $6000 is a fair price for both parties concerned, then yes, the car is worth $6000" It would be fine. But because you said, "As much as someone is willing to pay" Technically that's not a valid answer to the question, "Does $6000 seem fair?" Whereas, your intended meaning is a valid answer. That's all I was pointing out.

I paid my old man 6k a few weeks ago for his TL Limited Edition ES with 49,000 on the clock (bought for my wife). Absolutely mint condition, sat in a garage it's whole life. I do love it, but not quite as much as my 380.

49,000km racked up sitting in a garage is a decent effort!

Hahaha, yeah :)

And the old man did at least 20k of that on the open highway Adelaide-Perth or Adelaide-Albury several times. Probably has less than 30k in the city.
