Are those autotechnica cannon mufflers at auto barn any decent or they are cheap-nasty? i was looking to get one but at $150(on special for $99) i was thinking they arent any good? i dont want to get decent exhaust system yet cause im still thinking what way to go with my engine.... plus funds are a bit tight till i turn 21... just looking for advice... or warnings if anyone has had one.... if no one can say anything i might get it and tell ya's... thanks :)

You get what you pay for. $99 is cheap but most of that autotechnia ctuff is usually crap, some is ok. Your better off staying nice and quiet and save for a decent muffler and exhaust system than waste 99 bucks on something thats cheap and nasty.

Hey Mate
Nothing wrong with them, but they just drone all the way through the car and get quite annoying. That's the only downside but other than that they're fine. I used to have a 3A Racing one and never had a problem with the muffler itself but it did drone.

A mate works at Autobarn so gets the cannons cheap and another works at Mr. Muffler so installation's cheap.

Not sure if you guys know... but using a cannon you will lose alot of back pressure thus losing alot of torque. You may get a nice reading on a dyno for max power but no point having max power if you can hardly put it to the ground. As the lack of torque and power the 2.6L have, losing more torque isnt what you need.
My recommendation would be to get a oval shaped muffler with no more than 3" thru the muffler. Note: That isnt the size of the tip. You can have your 18" tip to make it loud and fully sik... just not more than 3" thru the muffler.
If you dont care about going slow and just want something cheap. I would say get it, otherwise a cannon will do you no good. What examples of a oval shape muffler and still have a huge tip? check out x-force range. http://www.xforce.com.au

Having a cannon fitted will definately increase performance. When I first had a cannon fitted, the car revved out more easily and definately improved performance. I agree with what your saying about not going too big, however most cannons are between 2" to 3" so it won't be a problem.

Yes it will definately increase power but it will decrease your torque significantly because of the way cannons are designed. You lose too much back pressure.
