I own a 94 Magna TS executive and want to look into getting a new suspension system. If you wish to see my car, click on the link in my signature.

I would like a suspension system that can take weight. Due having a false floor and sound system, you may be able to tell, that adds a bit more weight 24/7 to the rear and sags a bit. I am not after a soft suspension that goes down when you put weight on it. Would also like the front of the car to be in line with the back; can annoy people at night time with my headlights on.

Also want the suspension to be long lasting, I don't want to be a corner cutter and go a cheap product that wears out fast. I am after recommendations and reasons why I should go with that product.

A low set up suspension is what I want to look at getting, so that it has a lower centre gravity, better handling and looks more appealing. I don't want to go with super lows because, l want the car to still be driveable on not so perfect roads and clearance under load.

Currently, I am looking at going Lovell springs, undecided shocks at the moment, open to suggestions with reasons; I am after something effective with life.

If people could also suggestion why I should stay clear of other brands, like Pedders and Monroe, say exactly why I should because at the moment it's just suggestions from everywhere.

I've got a good set of standard shocks and even ones with bump stops or the other option that I have is lowered king springs. Do you want your car lowered?

Lovell's are good springs. Can't really go wrong there. With shocks, got several options. KYB make good shocks, Koni are also good...
Suggest you have a look at other member's rides and see what they run. Most of us would have a sound system, so upgrading springs to something a bit stiffer would sort you out.

I am also looking for what would be a good set of shocks to go with a strong set of springs like lovells.

You could look at Boge shocks.. Have heard some great things about them.

The Pedders shockies are supposedly a hardy shock, but there's alot of people out there that aren't a big fan, me included.

I do Boge and Dobinsons, these are a great upgrade, GRDPuck has done this to his sons wagon and has been very happy

So Boge shocks and Dobinson springs? And what was the compression like for that, no bottoming out on potholes or bumps and hitting the car? Or was it more stronger and can take those and still hold weight in the car fine?

Are we talking about trailer weight or weight your going to be having in the boot? Maybe look into poly airbag shocks, can be variable as to what weight you have

Just gave a quick ring around and got quoted $660 + posting for Boge shocks from wholesalesuspension, and Dobinson quoted $170 a set plus postage for springs. Going to try get more quotes tommorow.

Would that be a fine option to use? And do shocks come standard height all around or do you have to get lowered shocks to go with the springs? The business man on wholesale they come standard all around, wasen't sure if the compression under it was different or not though, and he was not able to give me part numbers.

Also want to actually look at doing my bushes now as well with the job, maybe nolathane.

Boge gave me:
c43 076 fronts lowered
c43 035v rear lowered

Thoughts?

Talking just boot and back seat weight here, not trailer, if noticed, my car don't even have a towbar :P

Got a quote from r&e.

Springs, lovell lows would be $330 for both sets
Shocks, Kyb shocks would be $280 for both sets

So would be $610 for that set, not sure what bushes and etc else would need doing for a full job.

Repco offered King lows $430, with Monroe heavy duty shocks $630
Bursons offered $620 for standard shocks and lowered springs
Pedders offered $970 for upgraded lowered shocks and springs

Anyone who has done this before and has seen something I am missing or tips or etc, please do reply.

I would replace your bump stops too. They're not an expensive part, but there's a huge amount of labour involved in changing them later. Try as you might, if you're going to lower your car a considerable amount, you're going to chew through them quicker.

update on situation.

Might be looking at going superlow stance for my car, but decided for now that I want to look at first getting a set of wheels done.
Getting the wheels first will help decide for me weather I get lows or superlows, so still open to suggestions.

For wheels, want good handling, lightweight, and are appealing. Nothing over 17".

How about a set of 16 or 17" mags off a 3rd gen? Chuck up a WTB thread and see what kind of replies you get.

You will need to replace the tyres since they're a different rolling diameter though.

I am not buying right now, what I got now still works, so I have no rush.
I am not after a tight budget, don't want heavy or cheap materials weighing me down.

Yeah getting bigger wheels will mean I will need to get new tyres for them, but not sure what wheels to honestly get, don't want cheap and heavy, want like looking and lightweight.

I would have a look at the Enkei range of rims... I think they have the style that you're looking for, and are reasonably priced too. Easily available from the major chain stores too. I reckon this (http://www.jaxquickfit.com.au/wheels/enkei/deals) would suit.

I wouldn't get too hung up on actual wheel weight. 16 or 17" is a good size for a 2nd gen. Having wider rims, lower profile tyres and good quality rubber would overcome any disadvantage in the unsprung weight. Plus, proper lightweight wheels (eg BBS, Work) are ridiculously expensive...

You said your headlights sometimes annoy people. Once you got your suspension how you want it, maybe it would be a good idea to make sure your lights are aimed properly also

I have always had a fancy for Enkei rims, thanks for the advice, will have a futher look into those.

True that.
