so with the copper core radiator in the magna foobar, i have ordered a replacment alloy one from mal.

plan is to remove the existing crapper today, take some pics of how the hoses are, than remove all the hoses and clamps and go buy some new ones ( may as well while the unit is out imho)

just wondering tho while im picking up the extras ill be needed to refit the replacment as my unit now is coppper and the one im getting from mal is alloy do i stick with the green coolant or grab the red stuff. also is it worth replacing the thermostat while everything is disconnected anyway?

Definetely grab the green coolant. Don't blow your money with Genuine as it is 50% water anyway. Grab a 15L bottle of Nulon concentrate from SCA for a whole $40. Make sure it has anti-freeze & anti-boil. Mix with 50/50 and you'll be set for a while. Do not use the Red coolant as these cars need the Green ones.

Good idea with taking pictures etc nothing worse than taking it all apart and not knowing how it goes back together. That being said there isn't many hoses and bolts that go into the radiator anyway -Fairly simple how its bolted up. If you have a aircon be careful with removing only the bolts that are for the radiator. All the aircon lines, condener, drier bottle etc all run around that area and Not only is it illegal to release the aircon gas into the envionment (10k fine) it also means you'll need to have it regassed and you'll need a new ac drier bottle as well. I recommend buying proper hose clamps and fittings instead of reusing the cheap factory clips. That gave way about 2 weeks after I replaced the coolant in the radiator. May be worth buying some hoses if the ones you currently have look worn.

Remember to remove and clean out the resivour bottle as well. Its held in by two bolts that you'll need to access from under the bumper. Held on 10mm bolts from memory.

yeah not wasting my money on the geniune coolant i always use nulan when available

yeah was going to replace the hoses clamps also for the sheer fact i hate the standard knuckle killers and the ones one their now are looking rusty as hell

haha i forgot about replacing the res bottle thanks for the reminder as mine has the typical cracking problem and needs replacing anyways
