hi everybody im new to the forum.i havent joined a forum before, first time.

My name is don and i have an issue with my car and hoping someone can help.
i have just purchase a 2003 magna verada, 90k on clock, all leather interior has been removed as well as airbags,engine is all complete.

The problem is that im trying to start the car but i have no spark at the leads, fuses seem to be all ok and fuel is getting there as well.

How do you check if the coil has spark or if its the modual. what else should i be checking
not sure of problem as i always work on 1970-1980 cars.

if any one can help it would be much appreciated,

Ok the dizzy cap is weird on third gen V6 it house the power transistor and the coil. In my signature Vdown thereV There is a link to down load a service manual and will talk about how to fault find the dizzy :)

It could also be the immobiliser. Do a search through this forum for this and there are lots of references. You can get the codes off the engine management system to tell you what is wrong. Again, a search will get you some info.

the engine still turns over.if the immobilizer was on would the engine still turn whilst starting with the key!

Simple answer - No. I had a spare key cut for my Pajero and this is fixed to the car somewhere. It has no immobiliser chip i it. I also have a spare key which has the immobiliser chip in the handle. This is hidden inside the car. The reason is that if I lose my keys somehwere, I can unlock the car with the outside key and then get the immobiliser key from inside and drive home. Naturally, I tried to start with the 'dead' key, but it wouldn't go.

For what it is worth, the engine did briefly fire (it runs on gas and there was some residual gas in the intake system), but then it stopped. This seems to indicate that I at least had ignition, but no fuel. So maybe it isn't an immnobiliser problem. You may have a dud coil etc.
