hi there
Recently my key central locking has stopped working. I do not have a remote for locking and i have checked the fuse and it looks fine. Coincidently my trip computer resets every time i start the car and i have to reprogram it. Not sure if these problems are related??? I have also topped up the battery with distilled water and this also failed to fix the problem.....PLEASE HELP i just hope its not an electrical problem

Engine bay fuse box, yellow square holder has 2 fuses, one of these has blown thus your trip comp
Once fixed, if still no remote then get a new battery for the remote

I dont have a remote for locking the car and I have changed the fuse for the trip computer but it still resets.

I'd say they could be related...
After coming back from a 5-week Eurotrip, my TH's remote central locking would stop working every couple of days - reprogramming the fob would fix it temporarily. The engine was also stopping immediately after starting, so I replaced the battery... haven't had either issue since.
So yeah, I'd say replace the battery and that should help the trip computer reset problem, and possibly the door unlock weirdness too.
If not, I believe the barrel in the door opens the the driver's door mechanically but there is a sensor in said barrel that signals the other doors to unlock. Pull the driver's door trim off and check the cable and connector that runs from the door handle as it might have come loose...

Thanks moufassa. I will give that a go. It would be strange if it was the barrel in the door as it locks all doors from inside when the car is running. Will let u know how I go. Thanks again

Actually I think I might have been slightly incorrect there...
The driver's door handle opens the door mechanically but the door barrel is just an electrical switch that signals the central locking... so that just bolsters the case for changing the battery. :)

Can not be the cars battery, the central locking system needs sfa current to work, if the car starts then the battery is fine in the car
The barrel is a mechanical item, the switch on the barrel is only for the alarm system to turn off in the case where a key is used instead of the remote, the doors are unlocked by the actoin of the drivers door barrel moving the lever, there is a switch in the actuator which then sends the signal arounod the rest of the car
If the car will not lock off the key but will inside, there may still be an issue with the drivers door actuatore
The trip comp issue is the fuse in the main engine bay box contained in the yellow retainer. The locking issue is most likely the battery in the remote itself. When I have cars here with batteries out sometimes for weeks, when put back together the remotes still work

I agree... but he said he doesn't have a remote and is using the key!
I replaced the driver's door handle on my TH a couple of weeks ago (yay for sheared bolts ) ... my recollection now thinking about it is that I was right the first time and it does actually mechanically unlock the door (hence the reason he can still get into the car). Sorry, bit of brain fade there...
If his battery is more than 3 years old it's probably worth replacing anyway!
