Hello, Does anybody know where I can purchase the tactile switches on the remote controle. I have one that has lost it's "spring" and won't open the door. The other switches - lock, boot will still work. I have searched all over the internet but they're always too big. I have attached an image. The switches are the little blue buttons. Normally, there are three buttons - open, close, boot but I have removed the faulty one already.

Jay car Electronics have those (http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=SP0610&form=CAT2&SUBCATID=978#1)(similar linked), they should be Single Pole Short throw (SPST) i think. Around $2 off the top of my head for a single.

Hi Flux, Thanks for the reply. You've highlighted my problem. All the small switches are 6 x 6mm. The ones on the remote are 5 x 5mm with a ground and nobody seems to have them!

edit: These are the closest I have found (no ground but that may not matter or I'll make a ground):
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?lang=en&site=AU&KeyWords=7914G-000ECT-ND&curr=AUD&x=19&y=19

No joy so I moved the boot switch to the door open position (that was the broken switch). So now I don't have a boot switch but it is for a wagon anyway. Blasted SMD things are so small.

Hey Guys.
Did anyone ever find a suitable replacement?
I can move the boot release to the unlock and go without boot, but would like to give replacing it a go.
I've been looking around RS, Altronics, DigiKey (thanks for the pointer), eBay, but not quite there.
Doesn't need the ground as I can always bridge with a bit of solder I guess.
Cheers!

Hi, just fixed this on my spare remote, very quick and easy to do. The switch was filled with some sort of grease, looks like it was always there. Unsolder the earth pin and remove the metal shield (don't remove the switch from the pcb, not needed). Remove the blue button and clean the switch with meths and cotton wool etc. Carefully remove the dished metal button and clean under it. Reasemble and test. Mine is like new.
Hope this helps - Ian

Indeed!
I was looking for this thread again as I just did the same thing this evening and wanted to share the results but you beat me to it!
The small conductive plate can also be pushed out of shape if the residue build up holds the push button down for an extended period. Flip it over, press it flat, then flip back over and drop it back in place.

If you have no luck with that, drop David Moody at Switches Plus Components (dave@switchesplus.com.au).
Before I decided to give freeing up the switch myself a go I'd already been in contact with him. Sent him the PCB and he found a slightly smaller rectangular tact switch and put them on the board for me.
If you angle them slightly they fit well and have a good responsive 'click' to them.

Edit: you don't need to connect the 4 poles, only 2 to complete the circuit when the button is pushed. You also don't need the earth pin, it does noting except hold the button together.

Would these be suitable:

Very, very close, but the 5mm is about 0.5 - 1mm too large and the 1.5mm height is a fraction too low. The dimensions between the pins is also a hassle as there isn't much room for play to get them to line up and have the switch centred.
I found similar on eBay which if anyone needs a remote repaired I can look in to then.
