hi all.

Im looking at doing a suspension change on my ralliart as its pretty well due.
I dont know whats better as im getting some 20" rims and looking to lower it aswell. I thought k sport coil overs would be the go. But any opinion from experiance would be great.

Depends on what you want to do, a good spring/shock combination will lower your car (depending on how low you want to go), provide good handling and be much cheaper.

I'd get the coilovers if you were looking at track work and had the money to burn.

Obviously with springs/shocks you can't adjust the height so whatever you buy is what you have to live with.

From someone like me who has done things the long way round i would definitely recommend the k-sport coilovers, having gone from KYB shocks on lowered springs to Ksport's then back again then back to Ksports IMHO it's like chalk and cheese, sharper turn in,higher corner speeds but i should mention i'm running some pretty aggresive negative camber, dampers are set to full hard and while it can get a little bumpy it's definitely tolerable as a daily, with 20's you might have to back the dampers off a little though.

Some other advantage's would be the extra strut clearance so you'll be able to run wider wheels, running coilovers will also allow you to fine tune the ride height and with the high spring rate you'll be be able to run them a little lower without hitting the flares.

Coilovers for track work and fast road, but thats gone out the window as you have fitted 20s so just stick with decent boge shocks and king springs or go for koni again

Theres now 4 of us in brisbane who run 20s and have coil overs, not one person regrets them, if not they the the best handling cars in the group even on the 20s, and ride comfort isn't even compromised. Don't listen to a word ppl say saying coilovers are crap they dribbling poo from there mouths.
I know the ksports are $1600 which is pretty reasonable.

This lol, also aren't they closer to 2k new with the camber tops, seems a bit dumb not to get camber tops while you're there unless you got em cheaper.

I was blown away by the amount of grip that a coilover adds to your car, I commented once it was the finger of a heavenly being pushing down on your car while cornering...Amazing.... As long as they aren't set too hard, they are great, and cheap compared to what the falcodore guys pay for theirs, and I beleive the Qld guys went the right way about it and got the adjustable camber tops....

Set them too hard, and it reminds of the toys that go on the parcel shelf, with the springs for necks, jiggity, jiggity, boing, boing. lol

Seeing as though you already have 20's, may aswell ruin what ride quality you have left and get coilovers. $1200 coilovers are obviously very cheap and so will reflect this in ride quality and handling. Anyone who tells you different hasn't ridden in a car with a proper spring/strut combo or a good set of coilovers. When I say proper spring/strut combo, I'm talking about Bilstein struts and Eibach springs like come standard on new Evo's with the performance pack. And when I say good coilovers, I'm talking about something like Ohlin Flag-L which retail at around $8,000.

You get what you pay for with suspension. If you want your car to just go lower on your 20's, probably get the coilovers because you have the option to lower it as far as you want/can. If you want the car to handle properly, well, you'll need to ditch the 20's to start with, but that's another conversation.

well this is the description.

"Ksport Kontrol Pro Fully Adjustable Coilover Kits provide the ultimate in suspension technology for your street or track car. 36 levels of damping adjustment allow you to fine tune the ride to your handling and comfort needs. The damping adjusts compression and rebound simultaneously for ease of adjustment. Pillow ball top mounts in the front and rear on some applications allow you to maintain vehicle manufacturer suspension geometry design. The pillow ball top mounts also allow you a more direct feel for solid driver response. Where available, camber canbe adjusted via the Pillow-ball Top Mounts, which means no additional "Camber Kits" are needed."

These are brand new from USA so i think im onto a winner.

Having been in Pete's Ralliart - 20s & Coilovers and Simons Verada - 20s & Coilovers.

They both handle so much better than my Verada on Boge Shocks/King Lows combo, I also found the ride to be stupid comfortable too!

Definitely an upgrade I'm looking at once Christmas is out of the way!

:yeahthat: I started on 19's now have 20's & didn't really notice any downgrade in ride. Going from Superlows to coilovers it was like the car is on rails into corners. I have mine set quite hard only because of clearence issues but will hopefully soften them up once I get my new wheels.

.... once I get my new wheels.

HAHAHA! and How's that going for ya?

In all honesty, for the few extra dollars you spend over a decent shock/spring combo.. They're great bang for buck!

Ohlins aren't a good coilover, they're an amazing coilover.
Good starts at 2k above for the average person and great would start at around 3-4.

You talk as if 8 grand coilovers is normal to have lol
