Hi guys,
As per the title, where is the additional sound deadening in a Verada?
I want to buy a KJ Series II (5 speed) but they seem difficult to come by and have diversified my search to VR-X Magna (5 speed auto or manual) and thinking about converting the interior to Verada spec (seats + sound insulation, chrome handles etc)
The KE/F's had additional sound deadening in the door trims, there should be two pieces for each door card. The same car should also have the rear reading lights.

There are a few places where there is extra sound deadening.
I know around the gear shifter is one spot. Massive bits of Styrofoam around the selector. Then the door trim itself has some sound deadening. I believe there is also a thicker firewall. And from memory - the boot has some deadening as well.

What is the actual difference in cabin noise? It sounds like a considerable amount of additional sound deadening.
I dont believe the sound deadening is any good. Petes KL AWD was noisy around the rear seats due to the diff underneath. Dynamat soon fixed that. I would be buying your VRX and dynamatting the doors and under carpet. Far more effective than the crappy lining mitsu use

The KF had the most factory sound deadening of any Verada. After that they cost cut it. The KL has the same almost as the TL which is FA.
The Verada copped a thicker firewall deadening, thicker parcel shelf, door matting, shifter area matting, mine came with 2 layers of undercarpet matting, and in all the pillar trims there is matting. Possibly in the roof panel above the headlining as well (my car has a sunroof so wouldn't have or need it)

Just as an update to my thread, I removed the door trims on my KJ2 and there was no sound deadening there whatsoever which was somewhat disappointing.
My friend had a KE that did have sound deadening there, and (even though I drove these 2 cars years apart) I remember the KE being much quieter
