I think my stock sound system on my KH Xi is on its way out. There is a tape jammed in the tape deck, which I used to plug my iPhone into, which no longer works. Also, in the last few days it has been refusing to turn on, so I have to mash the "power" button to get it to turn on.

So couple of questions:
What is going to be the best thing to replace this unit with? Sort of want something with a "factory" look to it. Could I grab the Premium Sound System out of a newer model Verada with the in-dash 6 stacker? Mine has a 6 stacker, from factory, but its located under the front seat.

Or, am I better off going with an after-market unit that does MP3 and iPod/iPhone integration?

Are these H/U relatively easy to install? The hardest part will be removing the dash, since my mate is an auto electrician he'll be able to wire it up.

I'm guessing the steering wheel audio controls won't work with an aftermarket H/U?
