So i know this should probably be an audio installs thing but i'd much rather see what head units people have. I'm waiting for mine to turn up at this stage but i bought a JCV 7"inch touchscreen GPS/Bluetooth/Motion sensor/Hands free Head unit for my car which cost a mere $1100. I'll post a photo soon. But i just thought people should show off their stereo head units!
So what i'm thinking is people post a photo of the Head Unit and describe a cool feature about it or why you chose it over something else or even the cost. :face jump:
Can't wait to see. Maybe could this be a sticky?
Please try to keep to this format from now on! Courtesy of SH00T.

Sounds like an interesting thread for the audio section.
I picked up a Kenwood 7" DVD, single DIN unit a while back. It was on clearance at JB Hi-Fi, cost about $350, plus $150 for the blue tooth module. Much better than the original sticker price of $2200 for both.
I decided not to get the Navigation module at the time ($300) but now I regret that - best price I've been offered since is $650 just for the Nav unit - at that price, I'm sticking to TomTom on my phone. :)
Pics - I've since moved it to the lower DIN slot - lets me access some of the climate control interface when screen is open now.

Me? I picked up an Alpine 9887, its discontinued now but when i bought it, it was an amazing headunit as it had as many tuning options as an entry level sq competitor would want and more. It has Parametric and Geometric EQ, along with Time Alignment, the option to run 3 Way Active, good looks, and an excellent sounding Dac to it, meaning when you fit it you will notice a difference in quality.
The 9887 is up top, underneath it is an Alpine Rux Controller for the external processor.

Brand and Model JVC KD-R926 BT
Year Released/Available 2011/
Format SglDin/DblDin: Single Din Cd Tuner
Standard Features CD, USB x 2, MP3 WMA and Wav. Bluetooth (uses 1 USB) Front Aux in.
Advanced Features DAC's and a very basic Time alignment, 3 sets of RCA outs @ 5 volt
Price RRP $399.00
What You Paid $319
What you Like Improved sound Q over a non DAC deck, custom colour buttons and text.
What you Dislike Fails to read USB if you linger a little on Accs while starting - requires restart, Text screen set a little low in the gap - Obscures a tiny amount of text, Cant read screen with polarised Sunglasses. Was a little hard to flush mount - the surround had raised side edging ideal for proud mounting - fix was scrounge through a parts box at Autobarn. And First one didn't work properly, 30 day replacemnet with JVC. Limited Bass volume adjustment over the pioneers 7050BT
Addons/Cost None
Installed By/Issues Me - Aerpro JVC adapter was very low quality and broke easily
Would you recommend it? 8/10 Yes, Very good value for money, Time aligment for 300.00 Gets the singer below the RV mirror with good splits and Rada tweeter mounts. Be careful with flush mounting.
Previous Decks Pioneer DEH-P 7050BT S/Din ( 8/10) and a DoubleDin Equiv in the 380 (screen text faulting after 3 years). Other Pioneers

MR SPL your interior looks really good.
Can you tell me, your red buttons for the climate control, do they look good in person or are they patchy/distorted etc?

Alpine 7998R. I don't care what new gadgets technology brings.. I'll only get rid of it when it breaks.. Then I'll search for another one!

I run a pioneer 4050 double din DVD. It has a smaller screen than some other units, but this means that it can sit flush with the dash cause there is no chunky screen to open. By today's standards it is an older unit, but I like that it has a both separate USB and iPod connectors.
This way I can listen to my music, then when I pick my kids up switch to theirs without loosing my playlist spot.
My only hate is there aren't really any different background options or album art avalible which the newer models have.
The audio quality is quiet good as is the sub control and high pass filter. My previous unit was the ralliart eclipse which the sound quality was excellent but lacked direct iPod control.
I can't remember the cost or what I paid but I certainly recommend the pioneer units as they give alot for the money
Sorry for the crappy pictures and not using the proper format ( posting on the iPhone )
