Hi All,

Is it ok to run the Remote Power for the amp to the same wire as the remote power for your HU?

Just wondering if this could be the cause of the popping and high pitch squeel im getting when I put my Splits through the amp.

Thanks in advance.

That high pitch noise is alternator noise. A Ground Loop Isolator will get that noise down. Or turn the gains down on the amp and use more volume from the head unit.

Well, as long as the amp sees 12 Volts at the remote wire it will turn on. So I'm assuming you want to connect the remote wire to your amp to the ACC wire that tells your headunit that the ignition is on? Is that right? If so, shouldn't be a problem, but I doubt this is the cause of your popping and high pitched squeal.

i thought it was alternator whine aswell but it isnt, when i rev the car the whine doesnt change pitch.

Ive rewired the entire stereo again. Ive got the speakers running off the headunit fine (splits and rears) as soon as i attach anything to the RCA sockets i get the high pitch whine. I have a feeling its something to do with the stereo. Im going to take it down to the Pioneer HQ on Monday and see what they think.

The remote power shouldn't be the cause of the problem, and in fact it sounds like the H/U and the amp may have different grounding methods thus creating a ground loop.

What if you just wire up one of the channels?

if that fixes the problem, a cheap and effective (but devastating to your RCA lead) way is to try to isolate the grounding wire on either one or both of the RCA leads.

i had engine noise as my front speakers are running off an amp. It got louder depending on the revs of the car. I bought a ground loop isolator and it stopped the engine noise but there is still a slight whine (doesnt apear to get louder with revs), and popping. The guy at northfield reckons Kenwood head units are renowned for it

Ive tried no speakers on the HU, 1 speaker connected to the amp and 1 rca cable. Soon as the rca cable lead (1 or both of the plugs) touches the back of the HU the noise starts.

Just to keep this thread updated.

Ive taken the HU into the Pioneer repair centre. They are gonna get back to me within 5 - 10 working days..

The HU is out of warranty by 3 months.. :doubt:

Also check that you've earthed everything correctly. If there's not a good enough earth it will cause a whining sound.

So make sure you have a big enough earth to handle it.

To keep those updated on the situation.

Got my stereo back from Pioneer service centre.

They fixed it for me free of charge even though it is out of warranty (what champs!)

Turns out that the RCA inputs had burnt out there earth wires.. Hence the massive whine noise.

Theyve been resoldered and should work properly.. Going to install my amp and stuff when i get home to check it out.
