Ive always been into my car audio and I've currently got a full Alpine Type-R setup plus HU in my series 2 380. My question tO Everyone is because of the shit mounting space in the boot for subs/amps; are there any fibreglass or timber panels that I can insert for a custom fit..?

Or any info on how tO DIY?

I'm practicing with some magna boot fiberglass box things at the moment, moulded into the corners, if they work out I'll be making one for the missus' 380 passenger side.

The general idea of fiberglass is to get a nice snug fit into small areas while maintaining enclosure strength.

For some ideas. To get you started you'll wanna either use a Jigsaw or a router to cut some MDF into a mounting ring for the subs.

Next step is to make a mould of the area you are wanting to use, this is done by masking up the wheel well or whatever with some 3m Blue Scotch tape, after it is all taped up lay some alfoil. By now you should have the area that are wanting to make into a sub box all covered, the next step is to get some fiberglass matting, lay it down, mix some resin with some catalyst and then soak the matting in it.

Once it is dry you can mount the MDF ring to the glass, pull the whole mould out, wrap the hole thing in cotton or any breathable material, soak it in resin, let dry, bog, sand, bog, sand, bog sand, spray putty, sand, then carpet or paint.

I may have missed some steps but most of it you can pick up from the fiberglass forums. Here are some pics of some of my quick work to help give you the idea.
