Hey again guys,
Just recently the car has started to shudder all through the car (not the wheel) when i slowly accelerate in 3rd or 4th at about 1400rpm until about 17 or 1800rpm and its spot on at that point.

If I give it more power it rushes through those rpm so fast that you only feel it a little bit. Im confused as to what it could be. The revs fluctuate as well when I slowly accelerate at that RPM. Ive looked on other posts and they seem similar but not close enough to my problems so its hard to know what.

Ive read that it could be a lot of things (you guys know a lot =P). Another note is that if im in park and i lift the RPM to those levels it is fine.

Thanks for your help guys

sounds like it could be an engine mount that has cracked

Is it when you are mainly in 4th on lighter accel, if so I would say is either a drive shaft or the torque converter lock up clutches

It does it in 3rd AND 4th in light accel. Are driveshafts, engine mounts or torque converters expensive fixes?

torque converters are a gearbox out gearbox in kind of thing, can add up to maybe $1000 to do from a mechanic, (just qoating prices where i am, could be cheaper where you are). drive shafts are maybe $500 bought and fitted from a mechanic, just did mine last year and that was the price where i am to do. engine mounts are up to $130 bought, can fit it yourself if your handy with a spanner.

Ok thanks mate, I hope its an engine mount haha =P I have a feeling though it could be the driveshaft

First things first, get some ShudderStop from a trans shop, is only about $22 and a good way to rule that out

I had a TP that shuddered like a mofo at around 1500-2000 in 4th and 5th (particularly when going up an easy incline) which turned out to be a driveshaft.

$400 or so and she was good as new again (until the head cracked... :( )

yeah ill try some shudderstop first haha knock out the cheap stuff. The revs fluctuate up and down like its surging on an easy incline in 4th. Thanks for the help guys, i know if i went to the dealer and told them they'd say its the transmission =P. I dont trust them too much, I told them it needed a new thermostat (RACV even double checked my suspicion) and they didnt fix it until they took the car for a test run after the timing belt and rear sparks service was complete and it overheated. We were waiting for them to return it because they said it was ready....go figure.

I called my local trans shop and was quoted $45 for shuddastop. Got it on Ebay for about $8. Put it in and it fixed my problem (shudder at 60kph in 4th gear, light throttle).
