hi with all the bad weather we been having in Sydney and the problems i had getting the transmission back on I decided to take off the pressure plate and inspect the driven plate before I tried to get the box back on again.
The driven plate is a bit rusty with rust on the facings. Is there a safe way of removing the rust without damaging the facings?
Also the facings have left an impression on the pressure plate. Is that ok or do I have to remove the impression somehow?

the driven plate like its a clutch is it
use wet and dry paper to take off the rust
get it at supercheap or a hardware store
its the black sandpapers
does the flywheel need a machine?

No the fly wheel looks ok.
What about the impressions on the pressure plate?

Don't bother rubbing back the actual driven plate surface, it will buff up nicely in use.
Flywheel and pressure plate may have some rust stains on them, wet and dry them off. Use a sanding block and go with the direction of rotation, ie around and around. If the surface feels smooth to the touch if you run your fingers over the stains with no grooves, you don't really need to do this anyway. After a bit of use the stains wear off.
I'm assuming these bits are new, just got rusty during storage? I use a light coat of grease on them before storage, sandwich the flywheel and pressure plate together, cover in plastic. The driven plate goes in a plastic bag by itself. Of course, I clean off the grease before installing.

Ok done thanks. No its just where I put the clutch kit on but couldnt get the box back on because of weather, illness and a myriad of other things. It spent about 3 months or more without the box over it.
Anyway just a quick one, I know the answer but want reassurance.
The driven plate has a flat side and a side with a raised bit if you know what I mean. Just checking it is the flat side that goes against the flywheel?
