after a small bit of input from the AMC community,
my car is due for a minor service soon, which i intend to most likely do myself.
but what engine oil to you guys use in your car? since i dont know exactly what brand ill be using in it yet. (ive got a kf verada on 223 km's)
and also, where would you dispose of the old oil?
Congratulations. You are the proud starter of the most started thread on this entire forum, I think it basically sits around 1 new thread a week these days..

appreciate the pointless input,
but the searches on this aren't very useful as it comes up with a stack of unrelated topics

I use Penrite HPR 15 (15w-60 rating) - as used by quite a few other members on here.
Your local council should run an oil collection service at their recycling\waste depot.

Maybe a poll is in order? A poll with a really easy to search for and find title?
I know what OP means, search here blows.
Back to topic - I use Penrite SYN 5 (5w60) and thus far it's been the better all round oil in my clunker 150000km TJ 3.5
When I'm back near a computer I'll see if I can do the Engine Oil poll to save the searching and resulting grumbling.
I think we should have a "Welcome to AMC" forum.
Sticky:
What oil do I use?
What exhaust do I want?
What globes do my headlights take?
How long can I leave my timing belt and will anywhere do it for $100?
What can I do to undo my clearcoat peel?
What oil to use - the manual should say the correct weight to use, a lot of people seem to like like penrite (Penrite HPR10 10W-50?), I usually use whatevers on special and the right weight. The old oil, put in an empty oil bottle, your council may be different but here we have a "green day" or something every 2nd sunday, mostly for trailer loads of plant material but they also have a small section for fridges/whitegoods, computers, batteries, and oil. I take mine to work and tip it in the waste oil drum there. Ring a car workshop, they may have a waste oil drum they might let you use if you ask nicely. Im not sure if oil is one of those toxic wastes you have to pay to get rid of, or one of those recyclable slightly valuable things like metal. If they have to pay for disposal, workshops might not let you share their waste oil drum.

Nice and simple, Penrite HPR10 will be the most common one on these forums. So use that.
