Hi all,
I've tried doing a search but can't find much on magna's with HID headlights or similar.
I have a TL Magna at the moment and want a change from the yellowish headlights that came standard with it. Does anyone have HID's in their Magna at the moment, if so do you recommend it?
I don't want to go blinding people and asking for cop attention, so i was thinking 4300K HID's, although... i don't think they are too adjustable on TL headlights so that might get some people mad on the roads while driving
OR... should i just go for those Xenon 55W headlight globes you can get from most shops?
Any help is much appreciated.
Cheers!
Murry.

HID in TL is a bad idea, they cannot handle the light and they disperse it pretty bad. Why not just up the halogen bulb to a phillips 80+ or something similar?

Yeah i was thinking that, anyone had good results with those Xenon blue/white lights ones you can buy?
To be honest i haven't seen any TL/TW Magna's with HID's.....probably a reason for that hey lol
Also, does anyone know what globes they take, i'm thinking they are the H7's? (haven't had time to check lately)
i got a TF magna, running phillips +80 high and low beam in exec headlights, they are good, really good, kinda wish i went the +100 but im still happy. i think you will find in your TL they are H4 lows and H1 highs. i could be wrong. ive spent a little money checking out bulbs and have been very dissapointed, but since ive been using phillips i havent been happier. i do a lot of highway driving at night in the country, so a good light is a must up here.

I have HIDs in my Magna and they're alright, but they're in the TJ parabolics. I have heard of a few people who have test fitted HIDs into the TL/TW headlights and have been disappointed at the results.
What are you after - a whiter light or a brighter light? At the end of the day, you can't have both. If you want whiter, go Philips Diamond Vision or Crystal Vision. If you want brighter, go Philips +80 or +100. The Philips bulbs are pricey, but they're worth it.
Upgrading your wiring with relays should also make an improvement in light output too.

i have HIDS in my TW... honestly there is no problems with the light dispersion at all. in the end its just a brighter globe. (i took everyones advice at first and got crystal visions, but then i wanted a brighter more blue light...)
just make sure u buy a good quality one with warranty.
edit: i think most people on here that have fitted hids to their TL/TWs got kits with shitty globes. go at least 6000k. i personally have a 8000k 55w..they wont blind as long as u aim them as u would with normal globes.. not up high. 6000k 35w is the legal one though, my friend had a set of those and they looked good too! they cover the road so well. they look the best too. ill upload a pic soon

I had HID in my TJ with the Parabolic headlights best thing i ever did, Not sure about the TL / TW head lamp as they are really big and would be way to scattery and blinding to on coming traffic. One way to know is buy the Philips HID kit. 35w H4

There is a big problem with light dispersion and have seen it myself, i do not reccomend it at all, and with the trouble from the police its upto you
You realise the higher up you go in K the less light you get? I would not go any higher then 5000 in a stock reflector to be honest, at least then it doesnt look stupidly blue! 8000K at 55w is just silly, waste of power really as the amount you lose from the extra 2000K equates to 35w 5000K anyway! Even less. NO HIDS ARE LEGAL without washer jets and auto levelling system fitted, with engineer cert. Anyone with authority will tell you this

Thanks for the replies everyone. It seems like the TL/TW head light design would scatter the light everywhere with HID's i guess. Has anyone got pictures with them installed?
Sounds like i'll be going with Xenon/Phillips globes though, I'm after a more whiter/blueish tinge to the headlights.

I have HID's in my Verada, which has been one of the best things I have ever done. I used 6000K globes because otherwise you'll be attracting too much unwanted attention from the police. Just make sure you have them adjusted correctly and they don't dazzle on-coming drivers too much.

I used to use Philips crystal vision bulbs and have been happy with them for years. Sure, they cost around $120 but last a long time and have a nice white light. I can't say ive seen the +80 or +100 bulbs in action so can't comment. I then went to Philips hid and although the light output was way higher, the beam scattered badly and produced a lot of hotspots. Also I had to adjust the lights down as otherwise I blinded people. That of course shortened the beam distance.
I'd go with Philips bulbs and possibly a relay kit for the extra juice if all you want is whiter light.

I fitted the Philips +100 and I'm happy with them, much better. I bought some HIDs on Ebay for the high beam but I can't work out how to fit them: they don't go straight in. So I've still got those in the box, unused.
