Hi!

Just got my adapter in the mail. Having never pulled my stereo out I'm going in blind, so was hoping to get a bit of information here to minimize the time I have to fiddle with stuff while I'm doing it.

Anyone who has put in the adapter - what wires go in which pins? Do you have any photos you took along the way? Any information you think would be useful?

Cheers.

Grab the knobs for the air and stereo and gently pull them towards you, they should come free with a little pressure. Grab the panel under the air conditioning knobs and gently lever it up, it should come away with a little bit of pressure. Unplug the the whole unit and put it to one side. Follow the instructions that came with the adapter to connect to the head unit. Put the panel back together the opposite way to the way you removed it. About 10 mins. and its done.

You shouldn't need to remove the aircon knobs - at least on the integrated stereo unit as the AC controls are actually screwed on to the fascia and will come away when it is removed.

Leave the air con knobs on, pull off the facia as described, you need to unscrew the cd stacker unit using four screws. In the back is a 13pin plug which is all you need to plug into the stereo. Then you snake the cable out to wherever you want it coming out to connect your Iphone.

I find it easier to start at bottom, palms up, thumbs on outside of console with fingers inside and under bottom panel edges then can balance finger pressure against thumbs and unclip panel from bottom up

Couldn't have put it better myself, spot on. :-)

Took out the stereo. Was easy-peasy.

Wiring in the adapter without a diagram though - not so easy. I didn't even try tonight to be honest, in the hope that posting the following photos of the rear of my stereo will cause someone to remember how theirs is done...

I've also emailed the eBay seller to get them to send me the instructions via email. I'm unsure how long that will take though :/

That last picture is the plug the loom connects to. What is the question you're asking now?

I kinda guessed that.
Was going to ask if anyone had the wiring diagram that came with their adapter or alternatively could take a photo for me.
Mine was lacking instructions (listing said it came with them) and the seller hasn't gotten back to me yet.

HOWEVER! Just realized that the adapter I have is radically different. Yours plugs straight into that 13 pin slot easy peasy. Which makes sense. The one I have is what was linked in the other thread.
It's something I plan on having a tinker with.

On a related note though. The adapter that you have, does it utilize all 13-pins, or only some of them?

Ah, I am thinking you have the wrong adaptor. Not sure if any of the different versions got working as we don't have Aux input in the 380. The Ipod control feature only works through the 13 pin connector and I'm not sure if all 13 pins get utilized but you plug the end in and they are all used then. This plug also supports navigation I think I remember.

The correct factory cable is a no brainer to install. Anything else you might get working but it won't be as easy.

How did you go with this ? . Iv got a samsung galaxy s ( Android ) phone , i would like to no if i can some how strip and solder audio aux input on this head unit . I understand that you might think i should go with after market head unit but i would like to keep it looking standard to keen eyes on the streets . I do not mind doing the work no matter how hard it is . I just need to no that it is possible and some heads up on how they have done it .

Hasn't been done yet unfortunately. I am still searching for more data before I start stripping down my headunit. To my knowledge no-one on this forum has gotten an AUX input working with the stock stereo unless it is utilizes the aerial.
