Hey Guys, I've had a read of a few of the topics on here in relation to lowering a 3rd gen. I have a TJ Exec btw. By the sounds of it the best option is 'Dobinson lows and Boge dampers' the 45mm drop. I'm going to be installing a set of the CJ Ralliart 18" rims as well. I do have a towbar to occasionally tow my boat (14ft tinny) atm (car is standard height). Has anyone towed something around that size/weight and had any problems with bottoming out/rubbing??? I'm wondering if I may just have the 30mm drop in the back and the 45 in front?

Are there any bottoming out/rubbing issues with this standard dobinson/boge package?

Also does mitz-fix have a phone number? I had a look on their website for contacts but it just has one of those 'fill out comment' forms. I'd be interested in their BOGE package but it's currently out of stock.

Thanks in advance. Dave.

I might check out how much it drops it with the boat on, the standard springs and shocks are about 160,000km old and pretty darn soft now (probably are from factory too). But the last thing I want is not being able to tow it. Thanks for the number 95ts.

You shouldn't have too much problem towing a tinny around, either will be fine. Kings aren't very good for towing with any decent weight but are fairly comfortable due to being progressive, not sure on dobinsons.

Towing around a fully enclosed Kennards box trailer (heavy bastard of a thing) with King Lows/KYB's isn't a problem, but we did encounter some ahh... Lets say height issues? When towing a 800kg car trailer, holding a 1350kg car - I guess thats expected though ;) Car was riding the stops for over 100km.

I would also recommend fitting a transmission cooler asap if you are towing regularly, these transmissions really do need the extra cooling.

Life, what kind of car trailer was it?
Also if it lowered the rear you should have position the car on the trailer in such a way that it would not have lowered the rear

We didn't trust our fastening system enough to move it back, plus the car would not start and it was too difficult to move - Just wanted to get out of there :P

My phone number is all over my site at www.mitsfix.com

I have a TE wagon, Dobinsons Low with initially Boge but now Koni, I tow my 15' Stedgecrafy with my wagon on a regular basis, provided you are not too dumb and make sure that everything is balanced, there will be no issues at all

If I wanted to hang anything more than a light box trailer off the rear of my TL, I'd fit a pair of Polyair bags so I can just add air to raise the rear when fully loaded and then let them down when not required - this way you can have the suspension you want when you need it and not have to compromise. Cost about $225.

Life, did you try reversing the car onto the trailer?
