i need to know if the cloth inserts on the te magna exec are easy to remove and recover..

i am hoping i can leave the door cards on the door whilst i do the inserts...

It's not hard to pull the seat covers/ fabric off, with the door inserts you need to pull the door cards off

:(
if i could get the window winders off i would be sweet...
i know they have a clip but no luck..i tried for about 30mins
the clips look like this http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/attachments/car-audio/41993d1193725841-removing-vt-window-winder-e3_1.jpg
you need a tool like this http://espimages.biz/2386/I/754/1/RT-WWX.jpg to push on both sides of the clip at once to push it out the other side instead of just spin it around in the groove. If you can push the door trim back enough to see which way its pointing, you might be able to get it with a pair of small flat screwdrivers, just be careful not to slip and gouge the trims, or lose the clips. The winders still work without the clip, just that they fall off if you pull it away from the door. Auto shops should have those tools or something similar.
Winders are easy to remove, push a flathead screwdriver through the gap and twist it sideways - it will reveal the clip, wedge the screwdrier against the end of the clip and start winding. You will see it push off. then just slide it off. To reinstall, reattach the clip and push it on.
Yar what life said, easy peasy that way. Then you can unscrew the fabric inserts and reattach the cards while you trim them if you should so desire.

Word of warning here - unless the female person involved is allowed to choose the new fabric, I can guarantee she WON'T LIKE the finished product!
A bit like me painting the house, wifey has to pick the colour, otherwise the complaints department of her brain switches on! lol

If you know the right colour you are almost there! Maybe go for the plushest, most expensive material you can find, and just do the front doors, and wait for her seal of approval before you do the rear doors?
Like "Honey, I did the front doors only, because I need your approval of the material and colour before I go on. You know how important your opinion is to me, etc."
Blokes call it sucking up, girls call it flattery. Meh - whatever works. lol

the dash, door trim and door sills were all light grey and they were sprayed black to make the car look a little more modern
the cluster surround and upper centre console were finished in plum purple
the lower centre console was finished in silver
the door trim insert was removed and replaced with a purple material from spotlight...seems to be a good heavy duty material which i also added a padded backing to
the cushion was a violet colour fur material which i filled with an inner cushion and finished with a mitsubishi logo glued on with 3 fake diamonds
instument cluster changed to red display
next on the list would be black carpet..but for now it won me some brownie points..... :)
