mcs_xi and I changed the valve cover gaskets and tube seal on both our cars today. His worked out fine but mine developed issues. I know next to nothing about this sort of work apart from what I've learnt from Mike today (heaps).

Mine wont idle and has a bad knock. We checked all the vacuum hoses and AFR? meter on the airbox. Then changed the spark plug leads as mine were ancient, but still no luck.

I wasn't much help at all unfortunately, but I can now take the top of the motor off and put it back together! :happy:

Edit: its a 6g72 TE

I'd check the plug leads at both the distributor and plug ends as it sounds like they are mixed up.
