Bought a 96 model(automatic)3.0L last week and it has developed an annoying glitch, some times when changing from 2nd to 3rd it seems to hesitate, it's almost like you have backed off the throttle as the car seems to brake momentarily. There does'nt appear to be any pattern, just does it randomly. I know Magna's have some tranny woes but I could'nt see this one in any posts.I suppose a service on the box is what I'm up for but has anyone experienced this particular fault, car has 102,000 klm, was a one owner, has service history, and is a family car now, I did'nt notice this when test driving car.
Also the brakes are shuddering so I guess a disc machining is on the books, I notice that Bendix pads are mentioned quite a bit but it was'nt clear to me which particular pad to use for regular driving. At what milage is it recommended to change the timing belt a friend said -"if it's done a 100,000 get the belts changed" but don't want to do it unnessasarily.
We are very happy with our new purchase as the car drives like new except for these couple of problems.

Heya there.
Had a KE with the same tranny problem. Had new computer put in it under warranty, made no differnce. Then mitsub put a new tranny in it and its been fine since. Aparently a solanoid inside the tranny.
As for pads, i just wanted something that feels similar or a little better than the stockers. I use to warp the discs all the time with the standard pads. I have placed bendix ultimates in and they are great. Couldn't be happier. Feel great, bite a lot more and still the standard feel through the pedal. Never fade under hard braking. Have never warped the discs since. Only down side is black rims after about 2 weeks. They are fairly cheap. About $120 for fronts and $100 for rears. If you want something that feels and work similar to standard pads then i cant recomend them enough.

Welcome to the Magna forums. :D
Dude, check your service handbook.
It should tell you when it should be changed.
TH handbook says every 100k or 60 months.
Don't skimp on this. Broken timing belt= broken engine!!

Dam, my cars over 60 months old, if only by a few months, and its only done 68 000 kms, so still over 30 000 more until scheduled change, but that will take another few years to reach, does any one know if it is a bit of a risk leaving it in there for well over 60 months if kms are still a bit less then 100 000?
And back to the auto problem. My car also does this, 2nd to 3rd change is the worst, although doesn't do it too often. I've learnt to live with it as its very intermitent. Something that seemed to help though, being sure your tranny level isn't too low or too high and fluid is still good, disconnect your battery, and the next few times you drive your car drive it nice and easy, meaning your invecs II tranny will learn to shift smooth to adapt to your driving style, this seemed to cut back the dodgy shifts in my TF 3 litre auto.

OK, went to ask about a tranny flush today and they pointed me to another guy with a transmission diagnostic machine (or I think thats what they called it) anyway this guy is an expert on autos and they said it was probably a solenoid as "Family Wagon" stated.
I was very impressed as they said they would not flush it until I had seen this expert as it may not need doing, they could have taken my money and sent me on my way!!
They can also machine my brakes.

Best to get it changed. The belt itself can and does deteriorate with age.

Yeah its probly best to be a bit cautious about it, only problem is though to get some one else to do it, it isn't very cheap. Last thing I want is it to break on me though, that wouldn't be cool.
