Hi there guys.

Recently the car is having an issue that is starting to scare the crap out of me.
The car seems to be stalling mostly on acceleration and on low revs eg, coming up to lights and starting to slow down. The car seems to have a wee jump and a choke then BAM, stops dead, Engine light, battery and oil lights come on. Tonight on my way home this same thing happened but this time it was worse, I had to turn everything roof, lights, radio etc etc to get the car to start.

It would turn over as per normal but just wouldn't fire up.

What it going on?

Thanks in advance :)

What RPM is the engine doing when it is about to stall? An engine cutting out unexpectedly leaves you without power steering and can be a problem, especially mid corner, so it needs to be fixed.

It seems to be sitting around the 1000 mark. Last night on my way home it didn't quite shut down, i was sitting at the 2000 mark then it shot down to nothing then kicked back in again in a split second

Update: Drove to work fine (10km). I have a hunch that the spark plugs are dirty or blocked injectors. Could that be the issue

It shouldn't be spark plugs or blocked injectors as you would just get a miss or rough running if they were faulty and not a total cut-off of power. I'd be checking all electrical connections, fuses and relays that have anything to do with the fuel pump or more importantly the distributor. Usually but not always, a sudden total cut in power will be due to an ignition related problem so maybe remove the distributor cap and inspect the rotor button and inside of the cap...also make sure no wires/cables are shorting out.
There are also other possibles - bad crank angle sensor or wiring, bad coil/ignition module, bad fuel pump relay, bad fuel pump, ignition switch shorting internally, bad engine earthing or battery connections, water in fuel tank intermittently blocking fuel pump pickup etc etc.
In post #2, you say engine light comes on - do you mean the CEL (check engine light)?

Thanks for your reply. Iv booked the car in for a major tune up. As to your question. Yes the CEL
