You are still better of buying new as they will still probably have 8-9 year old suspension in them. Unless you can find one that's had theirs replaced lately?

T/KE - T/KW is all the same, including AWD, just varying degrees of tune depending on model.
As above, better to go new, end up cheaper ion the long run as the older stuff will need changing again.

im doing it all myself
new front suspension $500 to $600 for just the struts
if i do it my self and pick up a low km used pair of stuts with spings i can have it all done for around $100
so does any1 know if later model magna / verada or even 380 shocks can be fitted to a TH magna??

Not sure where you are getting your quotes from, Boge for a full set is just under $600 and then springs for a full set $270 for Kings.
380 will not fit into a Magna
YOu pay for what you get, you pay peanuts and you will get monkeys, there is no way known you will get a good set of low mileage, all 4 corners for $100 unless the seller has no idea of what he/she is selling
Unfortunately owning a car sometimes means you will need to spend a few $$, there is little use with replacing worn suspension with ............. worn supension, is like changing your underwear with the pair you had on the day before
If you want 2nd hand stock suspension, you could keep an eye out on here or post up a thread in the wanted to buy section, someone might have reasonable low km suspension on their car and want it lowered or put coilovers on, might sell their old stuff.

so far i have found 3 lots of used suspension all from cars under 120,000kms and another from a tj vrx
the cheapest is $45 the most expensive is $200 for a full set with springs
for me this is the best option - fitting it myself i can save money and improve my cars handling
they are used but they will be a million times better than my leaking front left shock that bumps out on every drive.
so 380s wont fit what about later model magnas
2003, 2004 or even later?
vrx, ralliart will these all fit? has any1 done it before?
im not trying to refit TH or older models suspension im trying to get something better as cheap as possible
this magna is just a daily to get me back and forth from work in a/c automatic comfort.

Nate as Mal said not sure where you are getting those prices from but new struts can be had for a hell of a lot less than that. With new you have warranty and the peace of mind that you and your family are safe.

Shocks basically have a life of between 50,000 to 100,000kms..
Springs sag as time and suspension cycles accumulate.
Bushes wear out
Mal is giving you good advice.
New springs and shocks, with warranty, will be immeasurably better than an old suspension setup.
If you have to get the latest possible suspension to fit in your car.
If you are lucky score a TW set with the rear subframe and the rear swaybar that goes with it.
This way you will be getting a far better suspension setup.
Also have a very good look at your suspension bushes, these do wear over time.
If you just change the front lower arm rear bush assemblies these will make a major difference.

Nate I tried what you are suggesting with my old TE when the front shocks started knocking and leaking. I learnt that it's not cost effective. Paid $50 each for a second hand shock/struts. Within a very short time they were leaking and knocking.
I learnt that you can't cut corners with suspension. I ended up getting a pair of KYBs for around $300 and it was something I should have done in the first place.
It will be next to near impossible to find second hand struts even off the last of the Magnas (TW 2005) with less than 100k on them.
If your springs arent too sagged and the bushes still have some life in them, I would suggest just replacing the shocks.

ok just an update here
i picked up a complete set of shocks and springs from a low mileage TJ VRX for $150
straight swap nothng needed modding or to be added
it took about 2hrs to fit everthing - front and rear - with my dad giving me a hand - thanks pop
all in all its a massive improvement for the money spent
no more thumping on the panel from the right wheel or nose scapping on the ground over big bumps
the car is sharper in turns and doesnt nose dive when breaking hard
in my circumstances this was well worth the money
