Hey all.
Got this irritating rattle from the back of my wagon.... occurs when going over bumps and sounds like metal on metal.... I thought it might be the disc brake shroud but its not loose or anything... any other ideas people? :)

What do you mean socket?
My dads KJ wagon has like a shuddering sorta tapping sound sometines. Normally when i hit a corner hard and fast. Not sure what it is, im thinking maybe stuff rattling in the spare tyre well??
Not sure if yours is the same??

Yeah just went for a drive and made sure nothing was rattling in the boot. No effect.
Its definately coming from the rear left wheel.... driving over bumps with the right wheel nothing happens, right wheel it does.

No change in braking performance, suspension/handling or hand brake function?
Wheel nuts tight?
If there's a sway bar fitted, how do the bushes/links look?
Get under the car (safely) with a good torch and look for signs of wear.

Can be anything like a bad wheel bearing, faulty damper, loose bump stop, exhaust issue. Only way to find it is to get under the car and have a good look around. Also remove the side trim and check in the quater panel for anything that may have falled down there
I also have an annoying rattle that comes from the rear left quarter. I diagnosed it the other day and figured out the subwoofer had been pressurising the boot so much that it was opening and closing the flaps in the boot ventilation under the antenna. Going to combat this by lining the flaps with foam. It sounded metallic however I discovered it was plastic/rubber echoing off the metal.

Yeah wheel bearing was replaced a bit over a year ago so it could be faulty... exhuast is tight, doesnt seem like its coming from there....
I think ill just drop it into the mechanic in a week or two and get him to figure it out.
