after a fruitless search with conflicting results im asking. I need to to know the procedure for getting the tps positioned right. I replaced it months ago but just lined the marks up from the car i got it off . Runs fine and changes ok but want to check its perfect now i have a multimeter. At its current position touching the bottom prong and next one up (3 to choose from) o get 0.51 with meter set to 20k . When i move throttle it rises and drops accordinly.

If it's running fine and changes gears ok, then you can be sure it is close to perfect.
Anyhow:
One pair of contacts is a switch, should be closed when the throttle is closed and open as soon as the throttle is opened slightly.
The other pair should give you rising resistance as the throttkle is opened more.
Can't remember which contact pairs to test, trial and error perhaps?
ok, to adjust the TPS you need contacts 3 and 4, last 2 pins on the TPS (4 is earth) you turn the TPS anti-clockwise, check with multimeter and it should read 0 oHms. then turn the TPS clockwise slowly till you get an oHm reading.
forgot to add, when addjusting the TPS, make sure you have the throttle off the throttle stop screw by 3-5mm

ok jdm one must be different, i have 3 prongs on the tps, none register a zero reading. There is two prongs close together and one set apart. i get either 0.51 ohms at centre and plus minus this when turned either way . same with either prong and earth, other peong value is different but never zero. The car has tcl and has another tps type unit on the back of the throttle body, im assuming this backs off throttle under tcl instruction.

Grab the manual as you will in theory have 2 TPS if you have TCL< pretty sure that the Mivec has a similar system. Just look up the TCL Verada set up for setting

Sorry to hijack the thread. In my gto i have an issue with closed throttle sensor, that supposed to be at 0 ohms when shut, well mine is not! Even when i pull out the key its still shows a value & approximately 0.5 volts on it. When key is in it only registers 2.5 volts vs the 4 or more as per manual.
I tested one in my magna, it works just fine, no resistance when shut & then goes to 1 (infinite) as soon as you touch it, voltage is at 4,8v when key is in, and 0 then its out.
Gto idles like crap, im suspecting thats the issue, the problem is not with the actual sensor its the harness itself. What u reckon guys, some interference from somewhere? Car does have after market cruise control.

TPS has closed throttle position sensor, hence telling ecu that throttle is closed, if thats not working correctly you will issues with idle

Dunno if this helps, but remember that you have to put a 1.4mm spacer between the throttle levers. I used a 10cent coin.

If you are going to post, please post up factual information
The TPS DOES change idle, the TPS has an idle switch which then gives a slightly richer mixture for idle
Kovac, very different for a TCL set up and is not 14mm lol
